Is your child really being “lazy”? Maybe there is something more behind it. ❤️
If your child often says, “I don’t want to do it,” gives up quickly, avoids homework or gets frustrated with simple activities, it is easy to think they are being lazy or stubborn.
But sometimes, your child may actually be finding the task difficult.
It could be because of:
🧠 Difficulty in focusing
👐 Motor coordination difficulties
👂 Sensory challenges
📚 Difficulty understanding instructions
😟 Frustration when the task feels too difficult
Before saying, “Why are you not doing this?”, take a moment to understand.
Ask yourself:
✔️ Is the task too difficult?
✔️ Does my child understand the instructions?
✔️ Can my child stay focused?
✔️ Is there something physically difficult about the task?
Your child may not always be able to say, “I am finding this difficult.”
Sometimes, their behaviour tells us that something is not easy for them.
At 8 Senses Clinic, we help parents understand these challenges and find the right support for their child.
Pause before labelling. Understand before correcting.
