Doctors at Seattle (UW Medicine) have developed an experimental brain-stimulation implant that is helping stroke survivors regain fine motor control.

Neurosurgeons Jeffrey Ojemann and Jeffrey Herron implanted the device in a patient named Matt Kidd, who had lost movement after a stroke.
After the implant, doctors observed significant improvement in hand and finger movement, showing the brain can rewire itself (neuroplasticity).
