*Finding Balance Through Yoga*
At Gurukrupa ENT Clinic, we often meet patients struggling with vertigo, dizziness, imbalance, and vestibular disorders. While medical evaluation and treatment remain essential, yoga can be a valuable complementary practice to improve balance, body awareness, and confidence in movement.
🌿 Gentle yoga exercises that may benefit vestibular rehabilitation include:
✔️ Tadasana (Mountain Pose)
✔️ Vrikshasana (Tree Pose)
✔️ Sukhasana with focused breathing
✔️ Seated spinal twists
✔️ Cat-Cow stretches
✔️ Gaze stabilization and mindful head movement exercises
Regular practice can help:
✅ Improve balance and coordination
✅ Enhance concentration and body awareness
✅ Reduce anxiety associated with dizziness
✅ Promote overall physical and mental well-being
In particular Brahma Mudra and Yogic eye exercises can be very helpful for those recovering from Vertigo.
🧘 Brahma Mudra – A Yogic Exercise for Balance and Neck Mobility
Brahma Mudra involves slow, mindful movements of the head in different directions while coordinating with breathing. It is especially useful for:
✅ Improving neck flexibility and posture
✅ Enhancing proprioceptive awareness (body position sense)
✅ Supporting vestibular adaptation in patients with dizziness and imbalance
✅ Reducing neck muscle tension that can contribute to cervicogenic dizziness
✅ Promoting relaxation and mental focus
How to perform Brahma Mudra:
1. Sit comfortably with your spine erect.
2. Slowly turn your head to the right and hold for a few seconds.
3. Return to center and turn to the left.
4. Look up gently, then down.
5. Perform the movements slowly while breathing normally and keeping your gaze steady.
⚠️ Patients with acute vertigo, severe cervical spine disease, or recent neck injury should perform these exercises only under professional guidance.
Brahma Mudra reminds us that balance begins with awareness—of our breath, our body, and our surroundings. Through mindful movement, we can train both the mind and the vestibular system to find stability in a constantly moving world.
As we approach the International Yoga Day on 21st June, let us celebrate the harmony of mind, body, and balance.
“A steady mind and a balanced body are the foundation of a healthy life.”
Happy International Yoga Day!
