GLP drugs are becoming one of the most prescribed treatments for metabolic conditions in India.
And for good reason.
India carries one of the highest numbers of diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease cases in the world and GLP-based therapies offer real promise.
But there is a gap that does not get talked about enough.
Not every patient responds to GLP treatment the same way.
Genetic variation means the same drug, at the same dose, can produce very different outcomes from one patient to the next.
Yet most prescriptions are still written without this information.
The tools to change this already exist. Pharmacogenomic testing can tell us, before treatment begins, how a patient's body is likely to respond to a specific drug.
The next step for metabolic care in India is moving from standardised prescribing to precision prescribing, where treatment decisions are guided by the patient's own biology.
That is the gap SmartQR is working to close.
