WHEN THE AIRWAY IS DIFFICULT
Awake Fibreoptic Intubation with Ambu aScope
Some airways don’t announce their difficulty. They reveal it when access becomes limited.
This film presents an awake fibreoptic intubation performed for a patient with a mandibular condyle fracture, significant trismus and limited mouth opening, where securing the airway required careful planning and advanced airway visualization.
Using Ambu aScope, the airway was visualized directly and the endotracheal tube was guided into the trachea under endoscopic vision, with continuous monitoring and capnographic confirmation.
The case highlights an important principle in difficult airway management:
Advanced technology is never a substitute for clinical judgement. It becomes powerful when technology meets preparation, experience and precision.
