April 23rd — First Day of Summer in Iceland ☀️🇮🇸

Today, Iceland celebrates Sumardagurinn Fyrsti, a traditional holiday from the old Icelandic calendar, when the year was divided into winter and summer.

Across Iceland, towns celebrate with music, local events, parades, and activities for children.

Children often receive a summer gift — usually something for outdoor play.

The day also marks longer daylight, more outdoor life, and the return of puffins and other migratory birds.

In Iceland, it’s not about warm weather — it’s about the official start of the brighter season. 💛☀️

🇬🇧
Two destinations. Two pieces of my heart.
Now even closer.

With flights available from Iceland to Lisbon and Faro with Icelandair, traveling between my two countries has become so much easier.

Portugal and Iceland are both full of beauty, soul, nature, and unforgettable experiences — and now creating journeys between them feels more possible than ever.

My favorite airline making it easier to connect the places I love most. ✨

Iceland ↔ Lisbon
Iceland ↔ Faro

Two destinations. Endless inspiration.

🇵🇹

Islândia ↔ Lisboa
Islândia ↔ Faro

Dois destinos. Inspiração sem fim.

POV: You don’t just try it once

You come back.
Again and again.

Because Iceland’s Easter ski tradition
becomes part of you.

Today is Konudagur — Women’s Day.

It marks the first day of Góa
in the old Icelandic calendar —
a sign that winter is beginning to loosen its grip.

Historically, women were honored
for carrying families through the harshest months.

For their strength.
For their resilience.
For enduring the realities of a demanding climate.

In a country shaped by wind, ice, and long dark seasons,
survival required courage — and women were central to it.

When I look at these landscapes,
I see that same energy.

Standing under waterfalls.
Walking on glaciers.
Chasing rainbows.
Watching the northern lights.
Climbing mountains — even in the cold.

Strength here is not loud.
It is steady.
It endures.

Gleðilegan Konudag 🤍

To the women who rise.
To the women who build.
To the women who keep exploring.
