Today two years ago the first settlers arrived at Amiglia! It’s hard to believe how much has happened since then. Amiglia has been transformed as have her guests. So many beautiful people have been and are part of the continuous becoming of Amiglia. So many unexpected developments, meetings, creations, realisations.

Amiglia is a love story. Those who have been at Amiglia, know.

🌿 VOLUNTEER IN ITALY — OCTOBER 🇮🇹

Are you looking for a different kind of experience this autumn?
A chance to slow down, contribute, meet inspiring people and become part of an international community?
Amiglia is looking for a volunteer for the month of October (ideally starting 3 or 4 October, and at least staying until 24 October)

In exchange for around 20 hours of help per week, we offer accommodation in a private room at Amiglia in Italy.

✨ What you might help with:
• preparing rooms for guests
• welcoming and connecting with guests
• cooking and helping with shared meals
• grocery shopping
• picking up guests from the train station (if you have a driving licence)
• helping in the garden when needed
• and generally contributing to the daily life and atmosphere of the place

🌍 What you’ll be part of:
An international community of interesting people, many with a spiritual, creative or artistic orientation. A place for connection, exploration, exchange and living together.

What would you make if you had three weeks with nowhere else to be?

This autumn, Amiglia is opening its doors to artists of all disciplines for a small, intimate residency in the hills of Piemonte, Italy.

27 September — 17 October 2026

Come for one, two or three weeks.

You’ll have your own room and bathroom, three meals a day, space to work, morning practice, time to focus, and the chance to share ideas and exchange with other artists.

Contribution based: €10 — €75/day.

We want lack of money to be no barrier for an artist who genuinely needs this time. What matters most to us is your work, your motivation and your commitment.

Writers, dancers, photographers, visual artists, musicians, filmmakers, performers, researchers, makers — all disciplines are welcome.

It would be insensitive to say that we were happy that rain finally came.

It would be egocentric to complain about the damage that was caused to Amiglia (after one day of work most of the damage has been undone).

It would be irresponsible to not use our voice and say: it is time.

Climate change is affecting all of us.

I read somewhere that because of the warmer seas, huge storms are to be expected in autumn. So, was this only a little teaser?

Amiglia sits on a hill, we are safe for floods. Other parts of our village and many others aren’t. The old stone walls of our buildings are 1 meter thick. Many walls aren’t.

Our planet feels stressed because of how we treat her. Can we please listen to what we need to do to calm her down? She’s calling loud enough now.

The wonderful thing about working with artists at Amiglia: they have special eyes. Eyes that see things differently. Eyes that see patterns and connections. And when they also use their camera, we can share some new views of Amiglia. Thank you so much Dorien Bellaar for this series of Openings. We love openings!

At Amiglia, we always have one side of the house facing the sun. And, in the summer more importantly, another side where we can linger in the shade of the house.

So, we dance with the sun. Sometimes exposing ourselves, sometimes avoiding. Always grateful.

That said, these days we’d better practice some rain dancing. The soil is very dry. Luckily, we have our own well to save our vegetable garden. 💧

The spring retreat season is coming to an end. Time to welcome the summer and schedule the autumn retreats.

The summer is a time to pause, relax, enjoy, celebrate and - as always at Amiglia - to connect. Just come and let yourself be guided by a light programme and the ongoing rhythm of our community. End of July will join us to guide us during a week of exploring nature and what it offers to create with. We will weave, paint, print and mold using earth and plants.

In autumn we will dive a bit deeper again, with retreats guided by and also a Silence & Sound retreat by .sounds. Zoë and Surya are both experienced teachers who have the gift to take us to a dimension where we remember our true being. It’s a place where we find peace, joy and gratitude - and amazement about how natural it feels to be there.

Hills or mountains, that is the frequent discussion here ar Amiglia during shared meals. In any case, we are not surrounded by a flat landscape, and… when we go for walks, we are rewarded with a stunning view of the very big and real mountains, commonly called Alps.

In the long line of snow-capped peaks, there is one that stands out: Monte Viso (“the mountain seen”).
