🌟 Nurse Spotlight: Amanda Zitner 🌟

After spending the first 9 months of his life in the NICU, coming home was a moment this family had dreamed about for so long — and Amanda, from Star Pediatrics, has been right by their side since day one.

To little Dawson, she's lovingly known as "Doa." Their bond is one-of-a-kind. Fun, dependable, loving — the care Amanda gives him is truly unmatched, and the trust and comfort she brings to their family is immeasurable.

She came into their home as Dawson's nurse... somewhere along the way, "Doa" became family. 💙

Employee Spotlight: Yahaira P. Genao, RN, Clinical Nurse Manager

Yahaira's journey with Star Pediatrics started in 2013 as an LPN. Since then, her path has taken her from field nurse to RN to — as of 2025 — Clinical Nurse Manager.

"Every position taught me something that prepared me for the next opportunity," she says. As a bilingual nurse, she's also helped bridge communication gaps for Spanish-speaking families, and now leads with the same care she once gave at the bedside.

Her advice for nurses starting out: "Take every opportunity to learn something new, invest in your education, and remember that every experience is preparing you for the next step."

💙 Meet Adelina.

Adelina has been part of the Star Pediatrics family for years, and this fall she's headed to Ocean County College — with her sights set on becoming a registered nurse.

"They guided me from the beginning until now," she says of her nursing team. "They taught me how to understand my medical condition... they gave me care and guidance." Growing up, her nurses didn't just manage her care — they became people she trusted. She remembers being little and getting to play with their stethoscopes, feeling comfortable enough to ask every question on her mind.

That care left a mark. Adelina's ultimate goal is to become a pediatric nurse herself, so she can help kids feel less alone in their own medical journeys — and make her parents proud along the way.

"I want to help them understand what's happening to them so they don't feel lonely. I want to tell them about my own medical history to keep them motivated."

Today, Adelina plays tennis and basketball, loves doing her hair and makeup, and has come a long way — she once relied on supplemental oxygen around the clock, and now only needs it at night.

We are so proud of you, Adelina. The future pediatric nursing field is lucky to have you. 💙

Our team was proud to stand in person with patients, families, nurses, and advocates at today’s 'Raise the Rate Home Care Can’t Wait' rally in Trenton, NJ.
