Mango Season + Diabetes: Enjoy Smart, Not Scared 🥭
Mango season is here and mangoes are packed with vitamins + fiber. But they’re also high in natural sugar.
If you’re managing diabetes, you don’t have to skip mangoes. Try these 3 tips:
1. Portion control: ½ cup sliced mango ≈ 15g carbs = 1 fruit serving. That’s about 3-4 thin slices, not the whole mango.
2. Pair it : Eat mango with protein/fat — a few nuts, cheese, or Greek yogurt. It slows the sugar spike.
3. Time it : Have it after a meal, not on an empty stomach. And check your blood sugar 2hrs after to see _your_ response.
Red flags :Whole mango + juice + sweet chutney in one day = sugar overload. Fresh mango > juice. Juice removes fiber and concentrates sugar.
This is general wellness info, not medical advice. Everyone’s blood sugar responds differently. Talk to your doctor, dietitian, or diabetes educator before making big changes to your diet.
Enjoy the season — just let the mango enjoy you back, in moderation 😉
