Many of us idealize having more time to do the things we *want* to do instead of being forced to spend it all doing jobs we’d rather not. We long for less responsibilities and obligations, endless options, complete autonomy, and the resources to accomplish whatever it is our hearts desire. However, once our basic needs are met, Epstein argues that having *some* kind of constraints actually help us flourish precisely because they push us to think outside the box we are stuck in.”

All are welcome, no experience is necessary. Come as you are. 😌

💗 By creating community, no matter how small, we create little pockets of love and light throughout the world. We strengthen ourselves, support each other, and stand in solidarity with the forces of compassionate justice that our world needs now more than ever. 🌟

Each 30 minute session will follow a simple pattern of:
🪷 greetings and welcome
🪷 guided meditation or teaching
🪷 time for sharing
🪷 closing and reflections

Who can relate to that feeling of so much overwhelm you don't even know where to begin? 🙋‍♀️

And then falling into that self-fulfilling guilt/shame/procrastination loop... "Why even bother, there's too much to do, I'll never get it all done."

(Spoiler alert: this is *not* a good way to try and check items off your To Do list.)

As counterintuitive as it may seem at first, the carrot really does work better than the stick, even (especially) with ourselves. Focusing on the positives, and celebrating what you *are* actually accomplishing is MUCH more motivating than feeling like a failure who is incapable of doing anything.

Last weekend my family visited Tottori prefecture (to the north of us) to celebrate my birthday at a traditional ryokan (Japanese inn) and onsen village. ☺️❤️♨️

We bathed, we ate, we drove through the beautiful mountains of western Japan and we visited a sacred mountain spot. Legend has it that the gods threw the shrine into the side of the mountain in the year 706. (Which means it is over 1300 years old.🤯) The pilgrimage to reach it is intense—climbing over ancient root systems, using chains set into the rocks to pull yourself up—much too much for our five year old but we enjoyed exploring the bottom portion. 🐌🌳

My daughter and I decided we’ll have to come back someday soon. 😉💕

Self-care is not a “one and done” endeavor. Just as we need to make regular effort towards our other necessities — healthy diet, movement, relationships, and sleep — we need to continuously and consistently nourish ourselves in other caring ways in order to feel the benefits. 💕

Hope can feel like a hard commodity to come by these days. 🌟

It can feel like there are so many obstacles in our way of doing what we want to do: our current life circumstances, our jobs, our relationships, our roles and obligations, a lifetime of repeated behaviors and thought patterns. 😌

But when we find the way to really examine what is standing in our way, we begin to uncover the ways we can start to change that, step by baby step.
