From June 4–6, 2026, OUI Inc. COO Shintaro Nakayama participated in IAPB (International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness) IN SIGHT LIVE KENYA, held in Nairobi, Kenya. He presented at a session introducing domestic and international telemedicine initiatives utilizing the Smart Eye Camera, and also exhibited at a booth.
The event brought together global eye care professionals not only from across Africa, but from Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America. We received a wide range of valuable feedback and responses regarding the potential and future direction of the Smart Eye Camera and OUI Inc.'s initiatives — making it an incredibly meaningful opportunity!

OUI Inc. at ARVO 2026!

Between May 3–7, 2026, our representative Dr. Eisuke Shimizu and Ms. Yui Kojima presented at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) 2026 Annual Meeting, held in Denver, Colorado, United States.

At the event, OUI Inc. delivered two presentations on ophthalmic AI research and innovations:

Smart Eye Camera Exhibited at the Asian Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology

On May 9–10, 2026, we exhibited the Smart Eye Camera in collaboration with our Korean partner company at the annual meeting of the Asian Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology, held in Gyeongju, South Korea!
We were delighted to welcome over 100 visitors to our booth from a wide range of countries, including South Korea, India, Israel, Turkey, the Philippines, and Indonesia, and had very lively exchanges of ideas about expanding our work into the field of veterinary ophthalmology. Through these conversations, we were once again reminded that the model we have developed in human medicine — connecting patients in remote and medically underserved areas who have difficulty accessing eye care with specialist ophthalmologists via the Smart Eye Camera for remote diagnosis — can also be applied in the veterinary field.
We will continue to work alongside a diverse range of partners, in both human and veterinary ophthalmology, in our mission to eliminate preventable blindness and vision impairment.

A case-study video has been released on the the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED) Channel featuring OUI Inc.’s project, “Developing a Method to Eliminate Preventable Blindness and Visual Impairment in Developing and Emerging Countries Using the Smart Eye Camera, a New Ophthalmic Medical Device.”
This project was conducted by OUI Inc. from FY2020 to FY2022 as a selected project under the Japan Agency for Medical Research and AMED’s “Research Program on the Development of Medical Devices and Systems for Practical Application in Developing and Emerging Countries.”
In the video, OUI Inc. CEO Dr. Eisuke Shimizu and COO Mr. Shintaro Nakayama provide a detailed explanation of the project.

OUI Inc. Receives Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award in the US National Academy of Medicine’s Healthy Longevity Global Competition!!

We are pleased to announce that we have received the Healthy Longevity Catalyst Award from AMED for our project, “Co-creating socially-inclusive eyecare model to overcome world preventable blindness and visual impairment.”

This initiative is being carried out as part of the Healthy Longevity Global Competition, organized by the US National Academy of Medicine. The competition recognizes bold and innovative ideas with the potential to make a significant contribution to improving health challenges associated with aging.
