We are deeply honoured to celebrate Dr. Russell Eli White (Dr. Russ), Vision Bearer of the AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre, upon his selection for National Heroes status at the 2026 Mashujaa Day celebrations.

From choosing to serve in rural Kenya to building a centre bringing advanced cardiac and cardiothoracic care to patients across Kenya and beyond, Dr. Russ has shown us what it means to turn vision into impact and service into legacy.

He will be honoured alongside Dr. Steury, posthumously, the pioneer whose vision and sacrifice laid the foundation for AGC Tenwek Hospital.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT: GROWING PEOPLE, STRENGTHENING PERFORMANCE!

Today, our team at AGC Tenwek Hospital Cardiothoracic Centre engaged in a powerful Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on Performance Management, led by John Saiyua, Human Resource Officer, and facilitated by Dr. Nickson Ngugi, Pharmacist.

The session explored the performance management cycle, from setting clear objectives and expectations to continuous monitoring, feedback, review, and professional development.

Most importantly, we were reminded that performance management is not about punishment, it’s about progress. It creates space for clarity, constructive feedback, recognition, accountability, and continuous growth.

At Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre, we believe that when our people grow, our ability to serve, heal and transform lives grows with them.
