I stopped hanging my boxers outside after this incident...
While teaching at a girls' school some years back, I experienced what I can only describe as the embarrassment of the year.
It was a Tuesday evening, and I had about 20 minutes before my remedial class. I rushed to the teachers' quarters to collect clothes from the hanging line. As I gathered them, I noticed one of my boxers and quickly stuffed it into my pocket. It was a bit torn, and I didn't want any of the female teachers spotting it and judging my economic situation! 😅
With my clothes safely indoors, I hurried to class. That evening, I was going to introduce acids and bases.
Halfway through the lesson, my nose started itching. Having walked a long distance earlier, I was a bit sweaty and reached into my pocket for my handkerchief.
Unfortunately, fate had other plans.
Instead of pulling out my handkerchief, I proudly produced my boxer in full view of the entire class!
For a second, the room went silent.
Then the laughter erupted.
Some girls were covering their mouths, others were pointing at me, and a few were literally rolling on their desks and almost falling onto the floor. To make matters worse, it wasn't just any boxer—it was the torn one! 🤦🏾♂️
At that point, there was no recovering the lesson. My authority, my dignity, and my lesson had all left the classroom together.
I wrapped up the class as quickly as possible.
That night, I drank hadi asubuhi!😀
