🥄 THAT KITCHEN SPOON IS NOT A MEDICINE MEASURING TOOL! 💊

When giving medicine at home, the right dose matters. And sometimes, the difference between the correct dose and too much or too little can be as simple as the spoon you use.

✅ ALWAYS USE THE MEASURING CAP, SPOON, OR SYRINGE PROVIDED BY YOUR PHARMACIST.

🚫 Why NOT use a normal kitchen spoon?

A kitchen teaspoon may look like a standard 5 mL spoon—but not all kitchen spoons hold the same amount. One spoon may hold considerably more or less than another.

This can lead to:

❌ Too little medicine → the treatment may not work properly.
❌ Too much medicine → increased risk of side effects or toxicity.
❌ Incorrect dosing in children → especially risky because children's doses are often carefully calculated according to their age or weight.

💡 Remember:

5 mL means 5 mL—not “one kitchen spoon.”

For liquid medicines, use the measuring device supplied with the medicine or recommended by your pharmacist. For small doses, an oral syringe can be especially useful because it allows more accurate measurement.
