Kenya National Patients’ Rights Charter (Oct 2013)

Every person, patient or client has a:-

1. Right to access to health care.
2. Right to receive emergency treatment in any health facility.
3. Right to be informed all the provisions of one’s Medical Scheme/ Health Insurance Policy.
4. Right to choose a health care provider.
5. Right to the highest attainable quality of Health care products and services
6. Right to refuse treatment.
7. Right to confidentiality.
8. Right to informed consent to treatment.
9. Right to information.
10. Right to be treated with respect and dignity.
11. Right to a second medical opinion.
12. Right to complain.
13. Right to insurance coverage without discrimination on the basis of age, pregnancy, disability, illness including mental disorders.
14. Right to donate his or her organs and/or any other arrangements/ wishes upon ones demise.

At Manoti Tumaini Medical Diagnostic Center, Malaria is something we see very often, especially during rainy seasons when mosquito populations rise. Migori is one of the top counties in Kenya contributing to highest malaria occurrences.

On World Malaria Day, we’re reminded that prevention and early treatment can make a real difference in patient outcomes. Small steps help can help to reduce risk and protect both children and adults in our community.

A few simple ways to help prevent malaria when possible:
• Sleep under a mosquito net
• Wear long sleeves and trousers in the early morning and evening
• Reduce standing water around the home and use repellent if available

Easy access to care, testing, and treatment matters just as much as prevention. We’re grateful for the work that our local team and medical teams do each day to care for patients.
