Today we celebrate the men who showed up. The dads who fixed bikes, checked homework, killed spiders, gave quiet advice, worked late, made unseen sacrifices, taught us to drive, prayed for us, and loved with their actions.

The real MVPs who taught us how to ride bikes, how to change a tire, how to say sorry, how to try again and again, how to stand up for what’s right, and how to get back up after each fall.

To every dad, biological or chosen, grandfather, uncle, and father-figures— you have blessed us.

To my papa. To the fathers of our children and the men making things happen behind the scenes — tonight, this first applause is yours.

Today we celebrate the incredible women who nourish, protect, and inspire us every day.
To all the Mothers, Shosh wote, Aunties and Mother Figures in our world; you are the first responders of the heart and the caregivers of the soul.
We see the tireless energy you pour into your families — the love, sacrifice, and strength you give daily, often putting your own needs last so those around you can be healthy and happy.

We love you❤️.

We thank you🙏🏾.

We celebrate you today and always.
Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️🌸

This year, World Hearing Day, 3rd March 2026, highlighted the theme “From communities to classrooms: hearing care for all children.”

The campaign focuses on two imperatives:

1. Preventing avoidable childhood hearing loss.
2. Ensuring early identification of and care for children with ear or hearing problems.

Communities and classrooms are natural entry points to reach children, parents, and teachers. By integrating hearing care into school health and child health programmes, we can help children hear, learn, and succeed.

Richard Mwangi, a Consultant Audiologist, based at the Doctors Of Hearing - Kenya, Sheila [Law Student] and Collins [Nursing Student] joined me on to share their expertise and experience, aided by Sign Language Interpreters 1 Wilson, Belinda and Liz.

Childhood obesity is a growing concern in Kenya. According to the 2022 Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS), 3% of children under five are overweight. The numbers are more alarming among adolescents aged 15-19, with 13% of girls being overweight or obese compared to 2% of boys. If current trends continue, over one million Kenyan children aged 5-19 will be living with obesity by 2030, as projected by the World Obesity Atlas 2022.

The main drivers of childhood obesity in Kenya include unhealthy diets and lack of physical activity as highlighted by Nutritionist Kepha Nyanumba and Caregiver Rhyner.
