We wrapped up the week by hosting a team from Outspan Hospital - Nyeri for a tour of the National Supply Chain Centre, giving them indepth insight into the systems that keep Kenya’s public healthcare supply chain running efficiently.
The team explored key supply chain processes including receipt and verification of medical commodities, quality assurance inspections, controlled warehousing, and last-mile distribution of Health Products and Technologies to public health facilities.
Discussions highlighted the coordination and innovation behind continuous access to essential medical commodities, while addressing stock management, supplier timelines, affordability, and quality in healthcare delivery.
The visitors also interacted with KEMSA’s digital ordering tool iLMIS, which enhances transparency, efficiency, and accountability across the supply chain. A tour of the facility provided deeper insight into large-scale warehousing and inventory management systems supporting reliable healthcare delivery nationwide.
The visit was a fitting way to close the week, reaffirming KEMSA’s commitment to quality, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement in strengthening Kenya’s healthcare supply chain.
