It was a long time ago when a baby girl was born. There was only one problem, this baby had been born with an unforgiving face. She was ugly, brutal, dull and truly the most hideous looking child in the world. When her parents saw her ugly face they were ashamed and angry that they had given birth to a monster. They hid her in their house for days, until they realized that they couldn’t hide her f
orever. They would have to accept their daughter’s appearance and teach her that beauty is within. They raised her only to see the beauty within others but they knew that when she was old enough to see her reflection it would break her heart and shatter her dreams. They wanted this to never happen so they destroyed every mirror they came across in the hope she would NEVER see her reflection. For many years the child’s parents hid her distorted face from her and tried to raise her like a normal child. As she grew older, she began to notice the wicked stares and shrieks she got from passing villagers. No child wanted to play with her, her grandparents visited once and never visited again. The only creature that was forgiving was the pig her parents had bought her for birthday. They thought it would be a good playmate and not mind her horrible face. One bitter night, the girl was outside her home feeding her pig. The winds blew her parents conversation to her ears and as she listened she began to hear the breaking of glass. She then ran to the window and tuned into their intense conversation. Her mother had just finished breaking a mirror. At that moment the girl was confused. Why had her mother broken all the mirrors in their house? Why had she never seen her reflection? Why did people shriek when they saw her? Why was her only friend a pig? She tiptoed inside without her parents seeing or hearing her. Then she grabbed a jacket and headed for the door. Searching through the village she just couldn’t find her reflection. She raced to the village gates and in the distance she gazed at a burned down house. So she climbed the town’s gate in desperation and trembled down to the remainders of the house. She then opened the doors of the abandoned house and began to walk down the aisle. Her eyes searched the cottage trying to find her reflection, and then something at the front of the altar caught her eye. In disbelief she stared at the picture she saw. After seeing her reflection, a scream ripped out of her lungs and tears flooded her eyes. She knelt in front of the mirror trying to stop the bad thoughts from taking over her mind. No longer could she see the light, no longer could she see the beauty within. Her parents heard her screams and came as fast as they could but when they reached the house, all they could see were billions of shattered mirror pieces across the floor. Her body was nowhere to be found, she no longer existed, she was just a reflection. To this day she curses every mirror that exists letting us only see the negatives in our faces in the hope that we will feel the anguish and pain that she felt that very night. Only those who choose to accept their appearance and put her negative voice aside will see their own beauty within. Now, the story is no longer exist.
