The 8th International Seminar has come to a close, but the warmth it kindled in our hearts will stay with us for a long time. 52 people — 30 in person and 22 online — joined us from 14 countries: Australia, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, Czechia, Germany, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.
Over seven days, we practised, shared experiences and knowledge, and travelled together across some of Korea's most beautiful places. Our base was Yeongdong, where some of us rose before dawn for advanced practice and gathered each morning for theory and practice in the temporary dojang we created at the Illite Hotel. In the afternoons, our practice moved outdoors as we travelled to Jikjisa and Banyasa Temples, the valleys of the Dogyu-san near Muju, the rural village of Sangchon, and the forests around Songnisan. Between sessions, we shared meals at small local restaurants, closing the week with a farewell dinner at Arirang Garden and a traditional Korean music concert at Nangye Hall.
From early morning until late at night, we did our best to absorb the wisdom of one of the East's most precious cultural treasures — Kouksundo Bakdol-beop. Although we have now returned to our home countries, we strongly believe this seminar is only the beginning of a long friendship.
We hope to see each other again in Korea at the 9th International Seminar in April 2027, which will mark the 60th anniversary of the Revival of Kouksundo -beop — the day (March 15, 1967, lunar calendar) when Grandmaster Cheongsan, disciple of Cheongwun Do-in, descended from the mountains and began sharing this previously secret mountain practice with the public.
Let's keep in touch! 🤗
