The event showcases the latest in modern healthcare, disease prevention, effective treatment methods, newest technology and latest services available in Sri Lankan hospitals and laboratories as well as the global medical sector. Sri Lanka has recorded impressive achievements in health, family planning and infrastructure over the past years. With the dawn of peace, Sri Lanka is well on the track of a rapid development, and the health sector has the potential to take the leading role in this development process. All these endeavors will contribute towards the vision of making Sri Lanka the ‘Miracle of Asia’. The Sri Lankan government aims to foster a healthier nation that contributes to its economic, social, mental and spiritual well being, and plans to achieve this objective by working in close coordination and partnership with the private sector to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and sustainable healthcare services of high quality.

Professor Sheriff’s remarkable contributions to the field of clinical medicine, medical education, and the broader healthcare community in Sri Lanka have left an enduring legacy. His wisdom, integrity, and unwavering commitment to excellence inspired generations of medical professionals and enriched the standards of healthcare in the country.

His guidance and involvement in the Medicare initiative, particularly in recognizing excellence through the Lifetime Achievers Award, reflected his dedication to advancing the medical profession and honoring those who serve it with distinction.
