Deep within Sri Lanka’s forests, life moves quietly but never fades and in that silence, the junglefowl still carries the colors of the wild, untouched and free ❤️
"The Sri Lankan Junglefowl, also known as the Ceylon junglefowl or Lafayette’s junglefowl, is an endemic bird of Sri Lanka and the country’s national bird. It belongs to the order Galliformes and is most closely related to the Grey Junglefowl, even more than to the Red Junglefowl , the wild ancestor of domestic chickens."
"Genetic studies suggest that the Sri Lankan junglefowl diverged from red junglefowl around 2.8 million years ago, while its split from grey junglefowl occurred more recently, about 1.8 million years ago. This makes it a distinct evolutionary branch within the junglefowl lineage, shaped by long isolation on the island of Sri Lanka." 🇱🇰
