Two spontaneous vaginal deliveries. No induction needed. Here’s how 🌿

With my first, I was offered a sweep at 39+2 and said NO (because sweep is also a form of induction that may trigger unnecessary emergencies). My midwife suggested clary sage instead, just inhaling it from the bottle. Labour started on its own at 39+6, baby arrived 40+0. With my second, I started inhaling at 38+3 and went into labour at 38 weeks. Both spontaneous, both vaginal, no medical induction.

Clary sage has been used by midwives for generations to support the body as it prepares for labour.

The theory: certain compounds in the oil have a gentle, oxytocin-like effect that can encourage the uterus to start working with you. What studies show more consistently is that aromatherapy, including clary sage, can help with relaxation, lowering anxiety, and easing pain perception during labour, and a calm, relaxed body is often better primed to go into labour naturally.

That’s the idea behind our Pre-Birth Roll-On — a simple, portable way to bring this into your last weeks of pregnancy.

Follow along this week 👀 we’re sharing real stories from mamas across Sri Lanka who’ve tried it since it launched here — their experiences, their timelines, their honest thoughts.

You can ONLY start using this from 38 weeks onward. Every body and every baby is different — this is just gentle support.

Once a month. One whole week. Almost 3 months a year. Chocolate never actually eased my cramps, moodswings, head aches or the feeling of losing myself.

For years, my routine was the same. Cramps hit, I’d curl up, eat my way through a bar of chocolate, and just… wait it out. Because that’s what we’re told, right? “It’s normal.” “Every woman goes through it.” “Just push through.”

But nobody ever told me WHY it had to feel this way. Or that there might be something I could actually do about it.

So I went looking. Not for a miracle cure — just for ingredients that actually had something behind them. Things women have used for generations, long before any of this became a “wellness trend.” I use to have different teas at different times and I thought why not have everything as a whole blend? 😍

That’s how Little Lady Tea was born. 🌸

🌿 Raspberry Leaf — a traditional uterine tonic
🌿 Nettle Leaf — packed with iron and magnesium for those drained, depleted days
🌿 Spearmint — supports hormonal balance and eases bloating
🌿 Chamomile — calming, anti-inflammatory, the ultimate comfort in a cup
🌿 Rose Petals — because self-care should taste like self-care
🌿 Ginger — warming, traditionally used to ease cramping

This isn’t about pretending periods should feel like nothing. It’s about not just accepting “this is as good as it gets” when there might be gentler ways to support your body through it.

If your periods are seriously impacting your life, please see a doctor, that’s always worth checking. But for the everyday “this is just how it is” discomfort? This is for you. 🤍

Guess what? It also helps with PCOS symptoms 👏🩷

At 8:50pm, I felt my first contraction.

By 11:53pm, I was holding my baby girl in my arms 🤍

Looking back at my birth experience, there was one thing I instinctively kept doing during contractions.

I would get onto my knees, lean forward, and bring my knees close towards my chest while my husband applied firm counter-pressure to my hips.

At the time, I wasn’t thinking about labour positions, optimal fetal positioning, or birth biomechanics.

I was simply following what felt good.

Only later did I learn that forward-leaning positions during labour may help create more space in the pelvis, encourage baby’s descent, relieve back pressure, and support physiological birth.

One of the biggest things I learned through my pregnancies is that birth is not just physical.

It’s hormonal.
It’s instinctive.
It’s deeply physiological.

Sometimes our bodies naturally guide us towards positions and movements that help us cope with contractions and work with labour rather than against it.

Of course, there is no magic position that guarantees a fast labour.

But movement, positioning, and listening to your body can play an important role in labour progression.

For me, this was one of the positions I kept returning to throughout labour.

And less than 3 hours after my first contraction, my daughter was here 🤍

Did you have a position you naturally gravitated towards during labour?

I used Red Raspberry Leaf Tea during my first pregnancy in the UK, where it was so easily available every health shop, every supermarket, even online with one click. I felt the difference for myself and genuinely believed in it.

Then during my second pregnancy, I was back home in Sri Lanka. My sister and a close friend were also expecting but they were in their third trimester and naturally, I wanted all of us to have access to the same tea that had helped me before.

I checked pharmacies. Herbal shops. Online stores. Nothing authentic. Nothing I could actually trust. My friend found a tea but it was a fruit tea!

It was such a stark difference, something so simple to find in the UK, and almost impossible to find here.

So I brought it down myself, enough for my sister, my friend, and myself to use in my third trimester. But it was so expensive! Three pregnant women, all wanting the same thing, and none of us could find it in Sri Lanka.

That’s when it hit me, if the three of us, between all our searching, couldn’t find this easily… how many other Sri Lankan mamas had no idea this even existed, or didn’t have anyone to bring it in for them?

Guess what? This is what I heard from over 100 m**s who bought RRLT from Birth Aura!

So I decided to make it available. Properly. Authentically. For every mama-to-be in Sri Lanka. 🤍

Because some things are just worth the hype. 🌿

Pregnancy is not a disease.

Yet in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰, many women are taught to fear birth from the very beginning.

“Don’t wait too long.”
“Baby is too big.”
“Cord around the neck.”
“You are borderline diabetic, or you are overweight “
“Eat for two”
“Don’t move much”
“Why suffer pain?”
“Let’s schedule the date.”
“Better to induce.”
“Better to do a C-section.”

And while medical intervention can absolutely save lives when necessary, many mothers are beginning to question whether every intervention is always urgent… or always needed.

Birth is deeply physiological.

A woman who feels calm, informed, heard, and supported labours differently from a woman who feels rushed, pressured, frightened, or powerless.

Sadly, many mothers are never fully informed about their options.
Never encouraged to ask questions.
Never prepared for physiological birth in the first place.

This is NOT about shaming C-sections or medical care.
C-sections can be life-saving.

But mothers also deserve:
• Informed consent
• Respectful care
• Patience
• Emotional support
•Opportunity to birth without unnecessary fear or pressure

Ironically, while many parts of the western world are trying to reduce unnecessary intervention and support physiological birth again…
many women in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 are experiencing more intervention than ever before.

Maybe it’s time we started having these conversations more openly..

12,000km is a long way to travel while pregnant.

But for me, it became the distance between feeling managed… and feeling heard.

During my first pregnancy in the UK, I was encouraged to ask questions, read, research, and make informed choices about my body and my birth.

I felt supported.

So when I became pregnant with my second baby after returning to Sri Lanka, I naturally expected a similar experience.

Instead, I often left appointments feeling rushed, unheard, and disconnected from decisions being made about my own pregnancy.

At just 8 weeks pregnant, one doctor was already discussing scheduling a C-section “if necessary” before my pregnancy had even properly begun.

Another focused heavily on repeated scans and appointments, but barely took the time to speak to me, answer my questions, or understand my concerns.

One doctor was honest enough to admit that many birth decisions are often influenced by convenience and scheduling.

And while I want to make this very clear:
This is NOT about shaming C-sections or medical intervention.

C-sections save lives.
Inductions can absolutely be necessary.

But I also believe mothers deserve informed choices, conversations, emotional support, and the opportunity to birth without unnecessary fear or pressure.

By 24 weeks, my husband and I made the difficult decision to fly back to the UK.

14 weeks later, I gave birth spontaneously to my second baby.
No rush.
No pressure.
No unnecessary intervention.

Just support, trust, preparation, and informed care.

This page isn’t about telling mothers what to choose.

It’s about opening conversations around pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the experiences many women quietly carry.

If you’ve ever felt unheard during pregnancy or birth, you’re not alone 🤍

3 hours. Two pushes. Zero interventions. 🫣

I get asked a lot about what I did differently to prepare for labour and honestly I could write a whole book. But one thing I never skipped in my third trimester was my daily cup of red raspberry leaf tea , and I genuinely believe it was part of why my body was so ready when the time came.

This isn’t a magic fix. This isn’t a guarantee. But it’s backed by real science, recommended by midwives worldwide and it’s something I wish every Sri Lankan mama knew about before her third trimester. 🌿

This tea helped me push my baby out in under 20 minutes…🫣🌸

At 8:50 PM I felt my first contraction.By 11:53 PM, my baby was already in my arms. 💗

By the time I reached the hospital, I only had to push twice before baby was on my arms 🥹

Of course, every birth is different and no tea can guarantee a certain labour experience but I truly believe preparing my body naturally made such a big difference for me.

One thing I consistently included during late pregnancy?🌿
RaspberryLeafTea

Red raspberry leaf tea has traditionally been used during pregnancy to help support the uterus and prepare the body for labour. What made me interested in it was the science behind it ✨

The leaves contain compounds called fragarine, which research confirms that it helps tone and support the uterine muscles. Some studies suggest that drinking red raspberry leaf tea in late pregnancy links to shorter labour (my second stage was 20 minutes or less) durations and a reduced likelihood of interventions like forceps deliveries. I had a spontaneous labour with NO INDUCTIONS OR INTERVENTIONS 🤞

It’s also naturally rich in nutrients like magnesium, iron, calcium, and B vitamins all important for supporting the body during pregnancy.

Many midwives and holistic practitioners recommend it as part of a gentle third trimester wellness routine. Women all around the world use this tea as their holy grail for the labour prep!

I personally started drinking it consistently during my third trimester alongside movement, hydration, rest & birth prep and I genuinely felt more prepared and supported in my body 🤍

This is just my personal experience as a Sri Lankan mama sharing what helped me feel supported and prepared ✨

Save this for your pregnancy journey 💕
