(August 5, 2026) The National Health Review Conference provides a platform for health sector stakeholders to review progress, share best practices, celebrate achievements, and identify priorities to strengthen Liberia’s health system.

As part of the Conference, the Ministry of Health, through the Research Unit, invites health professionals, researchers, partners, institutions, and the general public to submit articles featuring success stories, innovations, lessons learned, and impactful interventions. Selected articles will be published on the Ministry of Health’s official website and page as part of the National Knowledge Sharing Platform.

River Gee County Health Officer Presents County Performance at Day Two of National Health Review Conference

Paynesville, Liberia | August 5, 2026 – River Gee County Health Officer Dr. Pauline Weah Mehdeh represented the county on the second day of the Ministry of Health's Second National Health Review Conference, where she presented River Gee's health sector performance and implementation progress before Ministry of Health officials, county health teams, development partners, and other stakeholders.

During her presentation, Dr. Weah-Mehdeh highlighted the 2025/2026 health sector performance, major achievements recorded between 2022 and 2026, key drivers of change, challenges affecting service delivery, priority actions, and recommendations. She also showcased pictorial evidence of infrastructure improvements across health facilities in River Gee County.

The county performance review formed part of the conference's ongoing effort to assess progress across Liberia's health sector, encourage knowledge sharing among counties, and identify practical strategies for strengthening healthcare delivery and improving health outcomes nationwide.

River Gee County Health Officer Participates in Opening of the Second National Health Review Conference

Paynesville, Liberia | August 4, 2026 – The River Gee County Health Team is proudly represented at the Second National Health Review Conference by its dedicated County Health Officer, Dr. Pauline Weah Mehdeh, who joined health leaders, policymakers, and development partners on the opening day of the three-day national gathering.

Officially opened by the Ministry of Health, the conference is being held under the theme, "Introducing Universal Health Insurance in Liberia: Financing Quality Maternal and Newborn Care for All." The forum brings together county health teams and key stakeholders from across the country to review the health sector's progress, identify persistent challenges, and explore sustainable strategies to strengthen healthcare delivery nationwide.

River Gee County Health Team to Participate in the 2026 National Health Review Conference

The River Gee County Health Team (RGCHT) is pleased to announce that it will participate in the 2026 National Health Review Conference, scheduled for August 4–6, 2026, at Paynesville City Hall in Monrovia. This year's conference, organized by the Ministry of Health, is being held under the theme: "Introducing Universal Health Insurance in Liberia: Financing Quality Maternal and Newborn Care for All."

Representing River Gee County at this important national gathering will be the County Health Officer, Dr. Pauline Weah Mehdeh, who will join fellow health leaders, policymakers, development partners, and other stakeholders from across Liberia to review the country's health sector performance and discuss strategies for strengthening healthcare delivery.

River Gee County Health Team Joins the World in Celebrating World Breastfeeding Week 2026

The River Gee County Health Team (RGCHT), under the leadership of County Health Officer Dr. Pauline Weah Mehdeh, proudly joins the Ministry of Health and the global community in commemorating World Breastfeeding Week 2026, observed from August 1–7. This year's theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works," highlights the importance of protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding as a foundation for healthier families and stronger communities.

Breastfeeding is one of the most effective ways to ensure that every child gets the healthiest possible start in life. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months provides all the nutrients a baby needs, strengthens the immune system, reduces the risk of illness, and supports healthy growth and development. Continued breastfeeding, alongside appropriate complementary feeding, remains essential for the well-being of both mother and child.

As part of this year's observance, the River Gee County Health Team is encouraging all health facilities, healthcare workers, community health assistants, and partners to intensify public awareness and education on the benefits of breastfeeding. The county also calls on families, community leaders, and employers to create supportive environments that enable mothers to initiate and continue breastfeeding successfully.

Dr. Pauline S. Weah-Mehdeh reaffirmed the County Health Team's commitment to improving maternal, newborn, and child health by strengthening nutrition services, promoting skilled maternal care, and supporting initiatives that empower mothers to give their children the best possible start in life.

The River Gee County Health Team encourages every mother to exclusively breastfeed for the first six months and continue breastfeeding with appropriate complementary foods up to two years of age or beyond, in line with national and global recommendations.
