Sixteen Individuals Under Surveillance After Their Arrival from Affected Ebola African Countries

The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has announced that it is currently screening and monitoring sixteen foreign nationals who recently arrived in the country. The individuals are from East African nations, including Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

This measure is part of Liberia’s enhanced surveillance and preparedness efforts in response to the potential reemergence of the deadly Ebola virus on the African continent.

NPHIL has reaffirmed that Liberia has not recorded any confirmed cases of the disease.

A recent Eb0la outbreak in Central and East Africa has raised international concern, particularly after former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield warned that the situation could potentially develop into a major global health crisis if not contained quickly.

Current Situation

The outbreak is mainly affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, with feĂ rs that it could spread to neighboring countries such as Rwanda, South Sudan, and Tanzania.

According to health authorities and international agencies:

• Hundreds of suspected Eb0la cases have been reported.

• Dozens of infecti0ns have been officially confirmed.

• More than one hundred de@ths are suspected to be linked to the outbreak.

The exact numbers continue to change as investigations and testing continue.

Dr. Robert Redfield warned that the outbreak could become “a very significant p@ndemic” if regional transmission is not controlled. Health experts are especially concerned because:

• Borders in the region are highly active,

• Healthcare systems in affected areas are limited,

• Some infected individuals may travel before symptoms are detected.

EBOLA OUTBREAK: At least 131 deaths and over 500 suspected cases have been reported in the latest Ebola outbreak in eastern Congo, the Congolese health ministry said Tuesday as the World Health Organization's head expressed concern over the "scale and speed of the epidemic."

3 people have died from a rare virus called Hantavirus on the cruise ship MV Hondius 🚢

The ship started its journey from Ushuaia 🇦🇷 and was traveling across the Atlantic Ocean. It is now stopped near Cape Verde, and has been refused permission to dock.

About 7 people are infected (2 confirmed, others suspected). Passengers are staying inside the ship while health officials check the situation.

Experts say the virus usually comes from rats. It is very dangerous but rare.

ALL YOU HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT NIPAH VIRUS..

NIPAH VIRUS (NIV) is a rare but serious virus that can cause illness in humans and animals.
It’s known for causing brain inflammation (encephalitis) and sometimes severe breathing problems.
🦇 Where it comes from
The virus naturally lives in fruit bats (also called flying foxes).
People can get infected through:
Direct contact with infected animals (like pigs)
Food contaminated by bats (for example, raw date palm sap)
Close contact with an infected person (body fluids)

🤒 Symptoms
Symptoms usually appear 4–14 days after exposure and can include:
Fever
Headache
Muscle pain
Vomiting
Sore throat

In more serious cases:
Dizziness or confusion.
Difficulty breathing.
Seizures or loss of consciousness.
Some people recover fully, but others can become very sick, which is why it’s taken seriously.

🌍 Where it’s been found
Mostly reported in South and Southeast Asia (like Bangladesh, India, Malaysia).
Outbreaks are rare, but health authorities monitor them closely.
