A weekend showing off Luxembourg 🇱🇺
A few years ago in Delhi, I joined the Seven Cities programme, exploring the many layers of the city’s fascinating history. Along the way, I met some wonderful women from around the world. After leaving India, we stayed connected and started a tradition: twice a year, one of us hosts the group in the city we now call home.
So far we’ve explored Valencia, Madrid, Málaga, Bourges, Bath and Bristol and this weekend it was Luxembourg’s turn.
I got to share the history of my adopted home, from the ancient origins of the city at the Bock Casemates to the charm of the Grund, Clausen and Kirchberg, we traced Luxembourg’s journey from Count Siegfried’s fortress in 963 to its role as a founding member of the European Union. Along the way there were Indian connections, art, history, great conversations, and plenty of local food and wine .
as well as the important Friday night Indian.
Sunday took us to Schengen, birthplace of Europe’s border-free travel agreement, before hopping across into Germany and France (because we could!) and exploring the beautiful Valley of the Seven Castles.
A wonderful weekend with lovely friends, ( some were missing) lots of laughter, and a renewed appreciation for my adopted home. ❤️
Where next? Malta seems to be leading the vote...
