🎙️ Welcome to The Complete Guide to Cancer Vaccines
I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Gilly Mathieson, and I’m a stage IV colorectal cancer survivor, with a story I never expected to tell.
Before receiving a cancer vaccine, I faced multiple recurrences in my lungs and liver, relentless relapses that left me with few options. When it felt like time was running out, I was fortunate to be accepted onto cancer vaccine research study.
I believe that vaccine played a central role in my recovery. Today, I’m disease-free.
As a former BBC journalist, I’ve returned to storytelling, not for the headlines, but for the hope. I’m now investigating the science and stories behind cancer vaccines on behalf of other patients and families: to uncover what’s real, what’s working, what’s coming next, and how we can speed it up.
I’ll be travelling across the Asia-Pacific region, starting in Singapore, then on to Tokyo — because I believe, as a traditional journalist, in the power of being on the ground. There’s no substitute for showing up: to learn, to listen, to understand. That’s how we tell better stories.
From there, the journey continues across Europe, the UK, and on to North America, meeting researchers, patients, and innovators shaping the future of cancer vaccines.
