My Motivation
If you’re a parent like me then I’m sure you’ll understand the importance of staying fit and mobile. Having my first child changed my life in ways I couldn’t possibly have imagined. My daughter being born not only brought with her an incredible sense of joy but also a new perceived fear of how fragile life is and just how something as simple as a table could be very dangerous. I’m joking of course but if you’re lucky enough to have children yourself then you’ll understand, It seemed that everything was a potential hazard.
My children are my main motivation for staying fit. I want to be able to run with them, jump with them, carry them on my back and be a source of inspiration to them as they are to me. There is nothing quite as creative as a child’s mind and when they want to move and play, well I want to be able share that with them for as long as possible.
For me practicing yoga, primal movement, calisthenics and martial arts are skills that I can share with my kids so we can all be involved and enjoy our practice together. Its one of my great pleasures in Life. One that is all inclusive. Its not about keeping things separate from the kids like it would be if my idea of fitness was going to the gym climbing on a tread mill or simply slapping another plate onto a weight bar.
Time is a very precious commodity. We can spend it but we can’t earn more of it and when you give someone your time it is the most valuable gift you can give to a person. You’re gifting them a part of your life that you can’t get back so spend your time wisely.
