📢 Rare Diseases are now part of CAYS
We’re excited to share that rare diseases are now included within CAYS, strengthening our commitment to more comprehensive and specialised care.
A key part of this is the European Reference Networks (ERNs) — cross-border networks that connect leading hospital experts across Europe to support patients with rare, low-prevalence, and complex conditions.
🤝 Through ERNs, specialists collaborate, share expertise, and discuss patient cases to ensure the best possible diagnosis and treatment.
👩⚕️ While patients don’t access ERNs directly, healthcare professionals can consult these networks (with patient consent), bringing European-level expertise closer to home.
🌍 There are currently 24 ERNs across the EU and Norway, working together to improve outcomes for those living with rare diseases.
➡️ This integration into CAYS marks an important step forward in enhancing support, knowledge-sharing, and care for patients who need it most.
