I always eat the seeds - chewed well ! 🍉
🌰 WATERMELON SEEDS are edible, but they are best enjoyed roasted or sprouted, not just swallowed whole from the fruit. The most useful part is the kernel inside, so chew them well.
🔥 TO ROAST THEM: rinse the seeds, dry them well, toss with a tiny bit of oil and a pinch of salt if you want, then roast at about 325–350°F (160–175°C) for 10–15 minutes, stirring once, until dry and lightly crisp.
🌱 TO SPROUT THEM: soak the seeds in water for 8–12 hours, drain them, then keep them in a jar or sprouter, rinsing twice a day until small sprouts appear. After sprouting, many people dry or lightly roast them for a better texture.
🥄 A SMALL PORTION means about 1–2 tablespoons at a time. They are nutrient-dense, so a little goes a long way.
⚠️ CHEW WELL and start with a small amount, especially if you are not used to eating seeds. If you have trouble with hard foods, digestion issues, or seed allergies, be careful.
✅ SIMPLE RULE: roasted or sprouted, chewed well, and eaten in small portions — that’s the easiest and safest way for most people to try watermelon seeds.
