We are proud to have been represented by our Programmes Implementation Manager, Mwayi Prudence Msokera, at the 16th ECSA-HC Best Practices Forum in Manzini, Eswatini.

Mwayi delivered an oral presentation titled, “Improvement Coaches Training Programme as a Blended Learning Model for Strengthening Quality Improvement Capacity in Malawi.”

The presentation shared LCQM’s experience of delivering a six-month, competency-based programme that combines online learning, individual mentorship, workplace-based quality improvement projects, peer learning and a community of practice.

Although the early implementation experience presented was from Malawi, the programme was designed in response to a broader challenge facing African health systems: limited access to affordable, practical and sustained training that prepares health managers and QI leaders to lead improvement and coach frontline teams.

A central lesson from the presentation was that technology can expand access to learning, but mentorship, workplace application, continuous feedback and competency-based assessment are what translate learning into practical QI capability.

We are particularly pleased that recommendations from the presentation were submitted to the ECSA-HC Directors Joint Consultative Committee for consideration as regional policy recommendations.

Mwayi’s participation provided an important opportunity to share Malawi’s experience, learn from other countries and contribute to regional discussions on strengthening the health workforce and institutionalising quality improvement.
