We are deeply grateful to Jesuit Worldwide Learning - Higher Education at the Margins Association (JWL) and for taking the time to visit and listen to the story, work, challenges, and vision of Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE.

congratulated our team and especially encouraged our and , Ngoy Mbeshe Felly, who is pursuing a in (CLS) at JWL, together with Felyster Kalon, our Secretary and Program Manager, who is also a JWL student.

During the interview, Ngoy shared the painful reality of su***de in Dzaleka, including the recent loss of a young girl who was 14 years old. He highlighted that the community continues to lose lives to su***de, often because of unseen wounds carried for a long time, while access to mental health education, psychosocial support, and awareness campaigns remains limited.

Ngoy appealed to JWL to consider introducing -related learning opportunities, particularly in support, , , and skills. Such courses could equip young refugees with practical knowledge to support their families and communities and respond to some of the health challenges affecting Dzaleka.

He also called for partnership and collaboration between JWL and Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE, believing that working together can strengthen our capacity, expand our services, empower young people, and help DHBC grow sustainably.

We believe education should not only open doors for individuals—it should also become a bridge to healthier, stronger, and more resilient communities.

A Meaningful First Day of Medical Support at Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE 🩺❤️

We are deeply grateful to – for sending . from Brazil to support our work at Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE.

Today marked Dr. Luisa’s first day with us, and it was a meaningful and productive day of serving our community.

At our office, Dr. Luisa provided office-based consultations to 5 patients, reviewed different complex cases, supported clinical decision-making, and prescribed medications where appropriate. Two patients were referred to different hospitals for further investigations and specialized care.

During the afternoon, we also conducted home visits to 3 patients, allowing us to assess their conditions in their homes and better understand their ongoing care needs. We further followed up on one patient who had previously presented with very high blood pressure, and we were encouraged to see that the condition was improving.

This first day has demonstrated the importance of bringing medical expertise closer to people living with chronic and complex health conditions, particularly those who face barriers to accessing healthcare.

Today, Dr. Jane Roman , our and , & -being Department Manager, proudly represented Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE at the . She supported the students by leading warm-up sessions, facilitating physical exercises, and providing first aid services throughout the event.

We sincerely thank Madam Hilda Katema Kausiwa for considering and inviting Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE to be part of this important program. We are grateful for the opportunity to promote health, wellness, and safety among young people, and we look forward to continued collaboration in serving our community.

A Visit of Hope and Solidarity

Dzaleka HOME BASED CARE was honored to welcome . , Dr. , Dr. , Brother , and from for a meaningful visit to learn more about our work and the services we provide to refugees and vulnerable people in Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

During their visit, we shared our mission, our programs, and the challenges faced by people living with HIV/AIDS, chronic illnesses, and other health conditions. Their presence, compassion, and interest in our work brought encouragement and hope to our team and the community we serve.

We sincerely appreciate them for taking the time to visit, listen, and understand the realities of our work on the ground. This visit reminds us that solidarity and partnership can bring positive change to the lives of vulnerable communities.
