📢 Fundraising Appeal – Support PACD Respite Care Centre, Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Dowa District, Malawi

Dear friends and partners,

Warm greetings from the Parents Association of Children with Disabilities (PACD) – Respite Care Centre in Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

We are reaching out to kindly request your support for a small yet very important initiative: improving the visibility of our Respite Care Centre in Dzaleka. This will help ensure that more children with disabilities, their families, and other community members can easily find and access our services.

Currently, many families, stakeholders, and potential visitors face challenges in locating our Centre.

To address this, we plan to install three signboards at key points:

1. Dzaleka Main Entrance

2. Road to Dzaleka Health Centre (Chipatala)

3. Dzaleka Youth Centre Road

During this period of funding cuts and ongoing challenges, these signs will play a vital role in guiding people and raising awareness about the support available for children with disabilities.

đź’ˇ How you can help:

We are fundraising to cover the design, production, and installation of these signboards.

Any contribution big or small will make a meaningful difference.

🤝 You can also choose to sponsor one signboard, and your name or organization will be acknowledged.

📞 For contributions or more information, please contact:

Frank Djuma Msambya
+265992573425 [email protected]

We kindly request that the funds raised be transferred to our partner's bank account below:

Bank name: Centenary Banking Corporation
SWIFT Code: MBBCMWMW
Account Name: Refugee Youth for Self Assistance
Account Number: 5080617055002

Alternatively, you may send the funds via Airtel Money: 0992573425 (Djuma Msambya).

Together, we can ensure that no child is left behind simply because they cannot find us.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

Parents Association of Children with Disabilities, (PACD)
Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Malawi

,

Title: Proposal for Support and collaboration,

Date: April 07, 2026

About PACD

Founded in 2015, PACD is a community-based organization run by parents of children with disabilities in Dzaleka Refugee Camp. We support children and youth with physical, intellectual, sensory, and developmental disabilities (including Down syndrome).

Our programs include:

Basic special need education and skills training,
Physiotherapy
Daily care and play-based learning,
Family support groups and advocacy,
Nutritional assistance( Feeding program) where possible,

We currently reach over 200–260 children and their families in a camp originally built for 12,000 people but now housing more than 60,000 refugees

Dzaleka Refugee Camp is facing a life-threatening food crisis. Humanitarian food aid (mainly through the World Food Programme) has been reduced to partial rations and is at risk of further cuts or suspension after June 2026 due to funding shortfalls. Families of children with disabilities are hit hardest, as many children require extra nutrition for growth, health, and managing their conditions. Malnutrition is increasing, affecting learning and overall well-being.

We kindly request support in any of the following areas:

Guidance on community-based nutritional programs or small-scale food initiatives suitable for a refugee camp.

Referrals to donors, organizations, or networks that provide food, nutritional supplements, or funding for children with disabilities.

In-kind or monetary donations to help us provide meals or supplements to vulnerable children.

Any other advice or partnership opportunities based on your expertise in supporting individuals with disabilities and their families.

Your support would directly help reduce malnutrition among children with disabilities, improve their health and learning outcomes, and strengthen family resilience in this difficult time.

We are happy to share our official documents, photos of our activities, impact reports, or discuss this proposal in more detail.

Thank you for considering this request. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these children.
