๐ŸŒŸ WCW Spotlight: Dr. Chana Khuluza ๐ŸŒŸ

This week, we celebrate the inspiring journey of Dr. Chana Khuluza, a young medical doctor whose story is a testament to determination, resilience, and the power of dreams.

Dr. Khuluza began her educational journey at Phanda Primary School in Chikwawa, where she completed her first four years of primary education. She later moved to Namitete Primary School in Blantyre to complete her primary studies. Through hard work and academic excellence, she became the only student from her class selected to attend the prestigious St. Mary's Girls Secondary School, a government boarding institution.

After excelling in her MSCE examinations, she earned a place at the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly the College of Medicine), where she pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a doctor.

Her journey was far from easy. Coming from a village school where lessons were primarily taught in Chisena and Chichewa with limited English exposure, transitioning to a town school required her to learn and adapt quickly. With determination, perseverance, and strong family support, she overcame these challenges and continued to excel academically.

During her first three years at university, Dr. Khuluza commuted from home while balancing both academic and family responsibilities. Despite the challenges, she remained focused on her childhood dream of becoming a doctor and saving lives.

Today, Dr. Chana Khuluza has successfully completed her 18-month medical internship at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, marking a significant milestone in her professional journey. While she is currently awaiting government employment, her achievements already serve as a powerful inspiration to many young people across Malawi.

Her message to aspiring medical professionals is simple yet profound:

"The sky is the limit. Always fight for your dreams, and you will succeed in life."

Dr. Chana Khuluza's story reminds us that no dream is too big and no obstacle is too great when met with hard work, perseverance, and unwavering determination.

โœจ MAN CRUSH MONDAY โœจ

Today we spotlight Dr. Maiden Wadsonโ€”an inspiring example of resilience, determination, and the belief that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.

Dr. Wadson began his educational journey at Kabiza FP School in Nkhotakota before continuing at Mlozi LEA School in Dedza. In 1998, he was selected to Mayani Secondary School, where he completed his secondary education in 2001 at the age of 18.

After secondary school, life took an unexpected turn. A venture into business delayed his plans for further education, and for a time, the dream of pursuing a professional career seemed distant. However, those years provided valuable life lessons and experiences that would later shape his remarkable journey.

In 2006, while teaching at a private school in Lilongwe, he met the late Mr. Kafamtandala, a mentor who recognized his potential and reignited his academic ambitions. Encouraged to pursue nursing, Dr. Wadson applied to Nkhoma College of Nursing and was admitted in 2008. He successfully graduated in 2011 as a Nurse Midwife Technician.

In 2012, he was posted to Thyolo District Hospital. Determined to unlock greater opportunities, he made a bold decision to rewrite his MSCE examinations. While working at the remote Zoa Health Centre, nearly 43 kilometres from Thyolo District Hospital, he studied independently and achieved an impressive 10 points in 2014. He remains grateful to the teachers at Nkhwangwa CDSS who supported him by lending study materials during this period.

His journey reflects the words of Paulo Coelho in The Alchemist*: *โ€œWhen you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.โ€

In 2015, Dr. Wadson was admitted to the University of Malawi College of Medicine (now KUHeS) to pursue the MBBS degree. Through dedication and perseverance, he successfully graduated as a medical doctor in 2021.

Today, Dr. Maiden Wadson is a practicing medical doctor and currently a *Family Medicine Resident at KUHeS*, pursuing a Master of Medicine in Family Medicine. With a strong passion for academia, clinical excellence, and mentorship, he looks forward to completing his specialist training in 2029.

Behind this success story is an extraordinary womanโ€”his wife, Agness. When Dr. Wadson was admitted to nursing school, she was pregnant with their first child. Faced with uncertainty and financial challenges, she encouraged him to continue pursuing his dreams. Her unwavering support has remained a constant source of strength throughout his academic and professional journey. Dr. Wadson fondly describes her as โ€œa woman with a heart of steel.โ€**

To young people and everyone pursuing a dream, Dr. Wadson's message is simple:

โ€œKeep climbing. The journey may be long and challenging, but persistence, determination, and faith in your abilities can take you further than you ever imagined.โ€

Join us in celebrating Dr. Maiden Wadsonโ€”a living testament that setbacks do not define your future, and that with perseverance, dreams can become reality.

โœจ WOMAN CRUSH WEDNESDAY โœจ

This week, we Spotlight and celebrate the inspiring journey of Dr. Mwayiwawo Donda โ€” a story of resilience, determination, and breaking barriers.

Raised in Ndirande, a township often looked down upon and associated with negativity, Dr. Donda carried a dream many considered impossible. From the age of five, she knew she wanted to become a doctor. Yet whenever she shared that dream, people laughed, believing that someone from her background could never achieve it.

But today, she stands as proof that dreams are valid regardless of where one comes from. Dr. Donda is now the first doctor in both her family and neighbourhood โ€” a powerful symbol of hope to many young girls and boys growing up in similar communities.

Her educational journey began at Ladybird Private Schools before proceeding to Marymount Girls Secondary School. She is currently serving as a Senior Medical Officer in the Cardiology Unit at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, where she continues to dedicate her life to saving others.

Dr. Dondaโ€™s story reminds us that your background does not determine your future. With vision, hard work, and perseverance, greatness is possible.
