🌟 MEMBER SPOTLIGHT & BIG ANNOUNCEMENT! 🌟

​The University of Malawi Science for All Innovation Club is thrilled to celebrate one of our very own, Gabriel Banda!

​Gabriel has been selected as one of the top 12 finalists out of over 53 applicants in the prestigious Falling Walls Lab Malawi pitching competition, hosted in partnership with LUANAR.

​His groundbreaking project focuses on Nitrate Removal in Drinking Water Using Modified Activated Carbon, a powerful innovation addressing vital environmental and public health challenges.

​Standing as the only UNIMA student in the finals, Gabriel is proudly representing our University, and University of Malawi Science for All Innovation Club on the big stage this afternoon.

​On behalf of the entire Sci4All Innovation Club family, we wish you the best of luck today, Gabriel! Keep innovating and breaking down walls! 🚀🧪✨

🌟 Woman Crush Wednesday: Angela Banda🌟

This , we are thrilled to feature Angella Banda, a remarkable UNIMA graduand with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and an inspiring leader within our Science for All Innovation Club community! 🔬✨

Driven by a passion for using science to solve real-world problems, Angella has focused her expertise on Microbiology, Plant Pathology, and Biotechnology.

Her hands-on experience during an internship at the Public Health Institute of Malawi ignited her commitment to tackling critical global health challenges head-on.

For her final year project, Angella tackled the urgent global issue of antibacterial resistance by researching the *in vitro* synergistic effect of *Azadirachta indica* (Neem) and acetic acid against ESBL-producing *E. coli*. 🌿🧫

Her goal is to continue her studies, work with leading scientific institutions, and pave the way for more young women to step into STEM and drive public health innovation.

Today we are Celebrating Vyachiuta Niyeranda.🥳🥳

Vyachiuta Nyirenda is an emerging biological scientist currently interning under the Science for All initiative at the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme.

A Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences graduand from the University of Malawi, Vyachiuta has conducted impactful research on aquatic ecosystems and bacteriophages, gaining valuable practical experience in freshwater ecology and its links to human and environmental health.

Her primary research interests include cancer biology, infectious diseases, and immunology, with a specific focus on how these fields intersect to impact women’s health.

Through the Science for All initiative, Vyachiuta aims to empower Malawian girls and young women to pursue STEM pathways while actively dismantling persistent gender stereotypes in science
