I sometimes laugh when I think about the techniques that we have discovered over the last decade of helping people.
It gets weirder and weirder every time.
But to be honest with you, it just makes sense.
When we first discovered the tongue pull… it was revolutionary
The tongue connects to the neck, spine pelvic floor, and it even goes down into the feet. It touches our body from head to toe and when the tongue is tight, everything feels it.
In my experience when people do this fascial release technique, they feel less tension in their neck, pelvic floor, and feet. Their feet feel different. Some people even feel more space in their head.
When there’s too much tension on the inside of the body, the Fascia underneath the tongue becomes thick and sticky. The tongue eventually loses its mobility, which can lead to snoring, change in face symmetry, and loss of proper nasal breathing.
To do this release it’s important that you use something that you can get a good grip on your tongue. Grab the tongue pull it up and twist it right move around and breathe then twist it left move around and breathe. The intention is to pull the fascia down the entire line (not just focusing on the tongue)
When you do this, it might be quite uncomfortable. Some people even cut a little bit underneath their tongue. All in the pursuit of creating mobility again.
I suggest starting slow and working your way up as you build confidence working with your body in this new way. I don’t like to overdo it the first few times because it creates unnecessary discomfort. You’re better off going slow slower and as you become better at it, increasing the amount of pressure you use.
If you want to see the tongue releasing action, check out my latest post. I have a self-care version and one where I did it on somebody else.
