AGTC Genomics Sdn Bhd held a fruitful visit and meaningful discussion with the Ministry of Health Malaysia on advancing precision medicine in Malaysia.

AGTC Genomics was honoured to engage with YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health Malaysia, and the Ministry Of Health, Malaysia (KKM) team on potential collaboration across cancer early detection, rare disease diagnosis, precision oncology, pharmacogenomics, infectious disease genomics, and precision public health.

AGTC Genomics recently co-hosted a Technical Workshop on 16S Microbiome Analysis in collaboration with the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) — Malaysia's oldest and most prestigious biomedical research institution.

The workshop brought together researchers and bioinformatics scientists for a deep dive into the full 16S rRNA sequencing workflow — from sample preparation and library construction to taxonomic classification using QIIME2 and DADA2, diversity analysis, and clinical interpretation of microbiome data.

This collaboration is about more than a single workshop. It's a step toward building a robust, nationally-grounded microbiome research ecosystem — one that connects cutting-edge NGS technology with Malaysia's public health priorities.

We're grateful to the IMR team for their partnership and to all participants who brought their curiosity and expertise to the room. 🙏

We were honoured to welcome the team from the Malaysia Genome and Vaccine Institute, National Institutes of Biotechnology Malaysia (MGVI-NIBM), to AGTC Genomics for a fruitful visit and discussion on advancing translational genome research in Malaysia.

The discussion focused on how national genome research initiatives such as MyGenom can be translated into real-world clinical, research, and healthcare impact — from population genomics and rare disease diagnosis to cancer genomics, infectious disease research, pharmacogenomics, and precision medicine.

At AGTC Genomics, we believe that genomic research must go beyond data generation. It should lead to better diagnosis, more informed treatment decisions, stronger preventive healthcare, and improved outcomes for patients and communities.

This meeting marks an encouraging step towards strengthening Malaysia’s genomics ecosystem through meaningful public–private collaboration.

This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about genomics, precision medicine, healthcare innovation, and building meaningful relationships with clinicians, researchers, laboratories, universities, and healthcare partners.

As an Applications Specialist, you will support the promotion of AGTC Genomics’ advanced testing portfolio, including oncology profiling, liquid biopsy, hereditary disease testing, pharmacogenomics, and genomics services for R&D.

What you’ll do:
✅ Engage hospitals, clinics, laboratories, universities, and government agencies
✅ Support client presentations, quotations, follow-up, and after-sales activities
✅ Work closely with internal laboratory and medical teams

Fluoropyrimidine-based chemotherapy drugs such as 5-FU and capecitabine remain a cornerstone of cancer treatment. However, many patients unknowingly carry genetic variants in the DPYD gene that impair drug metabolism, placing them at risk of severe and potentially life-threatening treatment toxicity.
