Why is it called a sandwich?

It is started by the Earl of Sandwich, John Montagu, in the 18th century. The story goes that Montagu, a notorious gambler, did not want to leave the card table to eat, so he asked his servants to bring him some meat between two slices of bread, allowing him to eat with one hand and continue playing cards with the other.

The simple meal became popular with Montagu’s gambling friends, who began to ask for “the same as Sandwich,” and the sandwich was born. Therefore, the sandwich has certainly become a beloved and ubiquitous food all around the world.
