Hello everyone, let’s talk about disability today

Understanding Disability: Breaking Down Barriers

What is Disability?

Disability is the experience of any condition that makes it more difficult for a person to do certain activities or have equitable access within a given society.

Disability is a difference in physical, sensory, or mental ability. It's a natural part of human diversity.

Types of Disabilities:
1. Visual impairments (blindness, low vision)
2. Hearing impairments (deafness, hard of hearing)
3. Physical disabilities (mobility impairments, paralysis)
4. Cognitive disabilities (intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities)
5. Mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder)

Simple Ways to Show Respect:
1. Use person-first language (e.g., "person with a disability
2. Offer assistance, but respect their autonomy(independence)
3. Be patient and understanding
4. Use accessible language and materials
5. Treat them with dignity and respect

Let's work together to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
