🦾 Destiny wore his calipers today.

Our caregivers strapped them on with steady hands and sure hearts, women who learned this skill with dedication, with passion, and with so much love for these children. We thank God for them. Truly.

From the calipers, Destiny moved to the standing frame.

And he stood. 🙌

This boy stood, supported, upright, weight on his feet, and we were so proud we could burst.

Then…

He fell asleep. 😄

Standing up. In the frame. Just like that.

And right there on the wall behind him, the wallpaper reads: “YES YOU CAN.”

Destiny, you are literally standing in front of those words and proving them right. Even in your sleep. 😭🙌

Oh, and did I mention? One of these caregivers who is putting on the calipers on Destiny with passion and dedication.

That is Destiny’s mother.

She works with us. We employed her at The Sedoo Initiative For Children With Special Needs. She is not just his mother at home, she is a caregiver at Sechild Center too. Strapping on his calipers with her own hands. Standing him up in that frame with her own strength.

If that does not move you, we don’t know what will. 🙏😭

Only this child. What makes him sleep in a standing frame we honestly cannot tell you. But we were not going to wake him, let him rest! His body did the work. He earned that nap.

🙏 Thank God for progress.

Thank God for our caregivers. Thank God for this mother. Thank God for Destiny.
Thank God for all our children.

Friday morning at Sechild, and therapy is already ongoing.

Many people are resting today — and that is fine. But the Sedoo Initiative does not rest.

Our caregivers are here. Our children are here. The work continues.

Every day. Not most days. Every day.

Because for children with cerebral palsy and complex needs, consistency is not optional — it is the therapy. It is the love. It is the hope.

Our lunch today, rice, beans, eggs and vegetables. 🍽️

Simple. Warm. Enough.

This is what we feed our children. Good food, made with care, served with love. Because therapy doesn’t work on an empty stomach, and neither does childhood.

Every meal here is part of the work. 💛

Two adults. One tiny boy. And a whole lot of intention. 🙌

This is Joseph.

He has Cerebral Palsy. And today, he is doing assisted kneeling, weight bearing through his knees while our team holds him steady, guides his body, and cheers him on without saying a word.

He doesn’t know what therapy means yet.

But his body is learning. And we are here,every single day, making sure it does.

This is what we do.No fanfare. No big equipment. Just hands, heart, and showing up.

Most people don’t see this work. They don’t see the hours spent on the floor with a child who cannot yet hold his own weight. They don’t see what it takes, emotionally, physically, financially, to run a place like this.

But you are seeing it now. 👇

Do you remember Tersoo, our star boy? 🌟

Today we visited him in school.

It was supposed to be a routine check-up. Nothing dramatic. Just stop by, see how he is doing, greet his teachers.

But this is Tersoo we are talking about.

The moment he saw us, the smile came first. Then the look. You know the one, the full I-am-the-main-character-of-this-school energy.

Look at him. Hands in pockets. Green Crocs. Shirt open just enough. Standing like he owns the whole compound.

Because he does. He has been there for years. This is his territory. 😄

We spoke with his teachers. They didn’t need to say much. His presence said everything.

We left the way we always leave after seeing Tersoo, hopeful, encouraged, and a little emotional if I am being honest with you.

This boy is not just doing well.

He is thriving. Has been thriving. Will keep thriving.

We miss him at the center sha. The place is not the same without his energy. But seeing him like this? In his uniform, in his element, completely himself?

We will take it. 💙

Still the main character. Still our star boy.

Breakfast this morning was a whole thing. 😅

We didn’t have enough sitting frames so I held Grace on my lap to feed her. Her back leaning right against my chest, supported, safe, close, making it work the way we always make it work.

Mercy? She fed herself. Like she always does. That girl is something else. 🙌

And yes, we still fed them in batches. Because that’s the reality. There are many of them and not enough frames and not enough hands and somehow, somehow, we get through every single plate.

It’s not picture perfect. It’s not always the “right” positioning. But every child ate. Every child was held or supported or cheered on. And Grace finished her whole bowl sitting right there on my lap like it was the most natural thing in the world.

Because for us, it is.

This is the part of the job you can’t train for. You just show up, you adapt, you hold whoever needs holding, and you celebrate Mercy feeding herself like she just won a gold medal, because honestly? She did. 🥇

Another morning done. Onto the next batch. ❤️
