People generally don’t pay attention to the environment they buy food from.
You see the yellow eyes, this is hepatitis A or E smiling at you and it’s spread feco-orally. Most Nigerians hear “hepatitis” and immediately think it’s only from s*x or blood. No. Hepatitis A and E are heavily linked to poor hygiene, dirty water, unwashed hands after toilet use, contaminated food, flies sitting on exposed food, bad drainage and filthy cooking environments.
That “Mama put extra stew” roadside spot with blocked gutter beside it, uncovered meat, dirty sponge, brown water inside paint bucket and the seller handling money then touching your food without washing hands… that’s how many people infect themselves daily without knowing.
Yellow eyes is not ordinary stress. In many cases the liver is already crying for help. Some of these food vendors are seriously sick but because Nigerians normalize “man must hustle”, they keep selling food while infecting people around them.
Watch the nails, smell the environment before buying.
