There is this particular restaurant I’ve been observing for a while, and every time I pass there, I always tell myself, “One day, I will enter this restaurant and eat food.”
So today, I decided to go and have a taste of the food from this restaurant I had been admiring.
Immediately I stepped inside, about three people approached me.
“Welcome, ma. What do you want?”
Aaaahhh!!
With the way they approached me, I immediately sensed that these people were very welcoming. I loved their hospitality already.
They ushered me to a place to sit down, and I sat.
I looked around and saw plenty of staff.
I said, “Wow! They have so many staff here o.”
I was impressed sha!
The lady attending to me asked, “Would you like to go closer and check what you want, or you can just mention it?”
I said, “Don’t worry. I don’t mind mentioning what I want.”
She said, “Okay, but if you go closer, you will see the prices. It will be better for you.”
I said, “No, no, no. I don’t need to see the prices.”
(After all, I came prepared. I had a solid ₦10k in my account)
So, let me just order the things I wanted.
I ordered white rice, turkey, a drink and water.
She said okay and brought everything to me.
I started eating happily.
When I was almost done, I told her, “Why not bring the bill? Let me just clear it.”
She brought the bill, and I saw ₦25,000.
I looked at her.
Then I looked at the bill again.
I said, “Is this my bill?”
She said, “Yes, ma.”
I said, “₦25k?!”
She said yes.
I asked, “When did I eat food worth ₦25,000?”
She started mentioning the carrot white rice, which was ₦15,000, the turkey, the drink and even the water.
Shuuuu??
For two pieces of carrot on top of rice that I even shifted away from my plate myself?
Ahhhhh!!!
She said, “That’s how we sell them.”
Then she pointed towards a particular corner and said, “That’s where you will go if you don’t have the money to pay.”
I looked there and saw a door with a NEW STAFF CHANGING ROOM written on it.
Ohhhhhh!
Wait.
“So na people wey no fit pay bill dey become staff?”
Ah!
No wonder these people have plenty staff!
I told her, “Okay, no wahala.”
Let me finish my food before resuming work.
