I can't believe some people use methylated spirit on open wounds.
It's like adding fuel to fire.
Methylated spirit shouldn't be used on open wounds as it can damage the tissue, slow down healing, and even cause bleeding.
You're causing yourself unnecessary pain, and it even retards wound healing, contrary to what you might think.
The reason clinicians apply methylated spirit on your skin before an injection is to disinfect the area and prevent bacteria from entering your body as the needle pierces your skin.
So, methylated spirit is meant for disinfecting surfaces, not open wounds.
To care for open wounds, use tap water or normal saline.
If the wound is deep or bleeding heavily, seek medical attention at a clinic.
Stay safe!
