*YOU EAT WELL… SO WHY ARE YOU STILL NUTRIENT-DEFICIENT?*🤷♂️
*©✍️ Beitel Helendee*
This is one thing many people don't understand.
Someone can eat 3 times every day…
Eat plenty of food…
Even eat what we call “good food”…
…and still have nutritional deficiencies.
How is that possible?
Because eating enough food is not the same as getting enough nutrients.
Let me explain.
*1. YOU MAY BE EATING TOO MUCH OF THE SAME FOODS*
Rice.
Bread.
Garri.
Noodles.
Yam.
Potatoes.
Beans.
There is nothing wrong with these foods.
The problem is when your diet lacks variety.
Your body needs different vitamins, minerals, protein, healthy fats and other nutrients.
*2. YOUR FOOD MAY BE FILLING YOUR STOMACH BUT NOT NOURISHING YOUR BODY*
This is why someone can say:
“But I eat very well!”
Yes, you eat well.
But what exactly are you eating?
A full stomach does not automatically mean a well-nourished body.
*3. SOME NUTRIENTS ARE NOT ABSORBED PROPERLY*
This one is often overlooked.
You can consume iron, calcium, B vitamins and other nutrients, but your body still needs to properly digest and absorb them.
Gut problems, certain medications and some dietary factors can interfere with absorption.
So the question is not only:
“What are you eating?”
Also ask:
“Is my body absorbing what I'm eating?”
*4. YOUR COOKING METHOD MATTERS*
Some nutrients can be reduced by excessive processing, prolonged cooking or poor food storage.
How you prepare food can sometimes affect its nutritional value.
*5. YOUR BODY MAY NEED MORE OF CERTAIN NUTRIENTS*
During pregnancy, growth, intense physical activity and certain illnesses, the body's nutritional needs can increase.
So what was enough before may no longer be enough.
*6. STRESS AND ILLNESS CAN ALSO CHANGE THE PICTURE*
When the body is under prolonged stress or dealing with illness, nutritional needs and metabolism can change.
That's another reason why persistent symptoms shouldn't simply be blamed on “lack of vitamins.”
NOW THINK ABOUT THIS:
You don't need to ask only:
“Am I eating?”
Ask:
“Am I eating a balanced variety of foods?”
“Am I digesting and absorbing them properly?”
“Am I getting enough of the nutrients my body needs?”
Because there is a big difference between:
*EATING TO FILL YOUR STOMACH*
and
*EATING TO NOURISH YOUR BODY.*
And that difference can affect your energy, immunity, concentration, growth, blood formation and general wellbeing.
So the next time somebody says:
“I don't need vitamins. I eat very well.”
Don't argue with them.
Just ask:
“How do you know you're getting everything your body needs?”
Your body is communicating with you.
The question is:
Are you listening?
