💧✨ DO THIS INSTEAD OF THAT: SWAP SUGARY DRINKS FOR WATER

That chilled soda may be tempting 😋🥤—but making water your everyday drink is a simple swap that can reduce your intake of free sugars and calories while keeping you hydrated.

🥤 INSTEAD OF THIS:

❌ Sugary soft drinks
❌ Sweetened juice drinks
❌ Heavily sweetened tea or coffee

💧 TRY THIS:

✅ Plain water
✅ Unsweetened sparkling water
✅ Unsweetened tea
✅ Water flavoured naturally with lemon, lime, cucumber or fruit

🌿 Why make the swap?
Sugary drinks can be a significant source of free sugars. WHO recommends keeping free sugars below 10% of daily energy intake, with less than 5% offering additional health benefits.

💡 MAKE IT EASIER

Keep a bottle of water nearby. 💧
Add lemon, lime or cucumber if you want flavour. 🍋🥒
And don’t feel like you have to change everything overnight—small swaps can add up.

Tonight’s simple swap:
🥤 Sugary drink → 💧 Water

Healthy choices don’t have to be complicated. 💚

What’s your go-to drink during the day—water, juice, soda or tea? 👀👇🏽

🌙✨ DO THIS INSTEAD OF SCROLLING BEFORE BED

You tell yourself, “Just five more minutes…” 📱😂
Then suddenly it’s midnight!

That nighttime scrolling habit can make it harder to wind down. Screen light can affect melatonin, while stimulating content can keep your mind active when your body should be preparing for sleep.

📱 INSTEAD OF THIS:

❌ Scrolling social media in bed
❌ Watching stimulating videos
❌ Replying to endless messages
❌ Checking your phone repeatedly

🌿 TRY THIS INSTEAD:

📖 Read a physical book
🧘🏽‍♀️ Do some gentle stretching or deep breathing
✍🏽 Journal your thoughts or tomorrow’s to-do list
🎶 Listen to calming music
🌙 Create a simple, consistent bedtime routine

💡 Try putting your phone away 30–60 minutes before bed when practical. Reducing evening screen exposure may help you relax and support better sleep.

And remember, screens aren’t the only reason someone may have poor sleep. Persistent sleep problems can have many causes.

🌿 Tonight’s little swap:
SCROLL 📱 → READ 📖 → RELAX 😌 → SLEEP 🌙

Small swaps can create better nights. 💚

Would you actually put your phone away 30 minutes before bed? 👀📱👇🏽

🌙✨ TRY THIS TONIGHT: MAKE YOUR BEDROOM SLEEP-FRIENDLY

A calm, comfortable sleep environment and consistent bedtime habits can make it easier to fall asleep and support better-quality rest. Adults generally need at least 7 hours of sleep each night.

🛏️ CREATE A BETTER SLEEP ENVIRONMENT

🌙 Keep your room cool, quiet and dark
📱 Put electronic devices away before bed
💡 Dim bright lights in the evening
📖 Use the hour before bed for quiet activities
⏰ Keep a consistent sleep and wake schedule

☕ ALSO TRY:

❌ Avoid caffeine close to bedtime
❌ Avoid large meals right before bed
✅ Give yourself enough time to sleep
✅ Try reading, gentle stretching or relaxation before bed

💚 Small changes tonight can create better mornings tomorrow.

If you regularly struggle to fall asleep, stay asleep or feel rested despite getting enough time in bed, consider discussing it with a healthcare professional.

What is one sleep habit you’re going to improve tonight? 🌙👇🏽

🍗✨ TRY THIS INSTEAD: FRIED FOODS → BAKED, GRILLED OR STEAMED

You don’t have to give up your favourite foods—changing how you cook them can help reduce the amount of added fat in your meals. Baking, grilling, steaming and boiling are useful alternatives to frequent deep-frying.

🍟 INSTEAD OF:

❌ Fried chicken
❌ Fried fish
❌ Fried plantain
❌ Fried snacks and pastries

🌿 TRY THIS MORE OFTEN:

✅ Grilled chicken or fish
✅ Baked fish
✅ Roasted or steamed vegetables
✅ Boiled yam or potatoes
✅ Beans, whole grains and vegetables

💡 MAKE IT TASTY: Use garlic, ginger, herbs, spices, lemon or lime for flavour instead of relying on lots of oil.

And remember—healthy eating isn’t about banning every fried food. It’s about balance and making nourishing choices more often. 💚

💧✨ DO YOU KNOW WHY YOUR URINE CHANGES COLOUR?

Have you ever looked in the toilet and thought, “Wait… why is my p*e that colour?” 😂💛

Urine can naturally range from clear to pale yellow, and its colour can change depending on how much fluid you drink. More concentrated urine is usually darker. (Mayo Clinic)

🌿 YOUR URINE CAN CHANGE BECAUSE OF:

💧 Hydration levels
🥬 Certain foods
💊 Some medicines
💊 Vitamins and supplements
🩺 Sometimes, an underlying health problem (Mayo Clinic)

💛 WHAT’S GENERALLY NORMAL?

Pale yellow urine is commonly associated with good hydration. Darker yellow urine can occur when urine is more concentrated, including with dehydration. (NHS)

But colour alone doesn’t diagnose your health status.

🚨 PAY ATTENTION TO UNUSUAL CHANGES:
🩸 Red or pink urine may indicate blood and should be medically assessed.
🟠 Persistent dark/orange urine—especially with yellow skin/eyes or pale stools—can need medical evaluation.
☁️ Cloudy urine can sometimes occur with urinary infections or other urinary problems. (Mayo Clinic)

💡 Remember: Don’t force yourself to drink excessive amounts of water just to make your urine completely clear. Your fluid needs vary.

Your body gives you clues every day. Pay attention, but don’t panic over every colour change. 💚🌿

What colour do you usually notice most often? 👀👇🏽

🩸✨ WHAT DOES LOW IRON FEEL LIKE? SIGNS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Iron helps your body make haemoglobin, which carries oxygen around your body; when iron deficiency becomes significant enough to cause anaemia, symptoms can include tiredness, weakness, dizziness, pale skin, headaches, shortness of breath, cold hands and feet, or noticeable heartbeats.

🌿 GOOD FOOD SOURCES OF IRON

🫘 Beans & lentils
🥩 Lean meat & fish
🥚 Eggs
🥬 Dark leafy greens
🥣 Iron-fortified cereals

🍊 Pairing plant sources of iron with vitamin-C-rich foods can help your body absorb more iron.

💡 IMPORTANT: These symptoms can have many causes, so don’t assume you have low iron based on symptoms alone; a healthcare professional can confirm iron-deficiency anaemia with blood tests.

🚨 Seek urgent medical care for chest pain, severe breathing difficulty, fainting or severe/worsening symptoms.

Don’t guess—get checked. 💚🌿

Have you ever had your iron levels checked? 👇🏽

🍽️✨ TRY THIS INSTEAD: EAT SLOWLY AND ENJOY YOUR MEAL

Ever looked down at your plate and realized you finished your food before you even had time to enjoy it? 😂

Eating slowly and paying attention to your meal can help you enjoy your food, reduce swallowed air and give your body more time to recognize fullness.

🌿 TRY THESE SIMPLE HABITS

🐢 Chew your food well
🍴 Put your fork or spoon down between bites
⏸️ Pause occasionally during your meal
📱 Minimize distractions like your phone or TV
🪑 Sit down and enjoy your meal when possible
💚 Pay attention to your hunger and fullness cues

Eating slowly isn’t a magic weight-loss trick, but it can be a useful habit for becoming more mindful of how much and how quickly you eat.

✨ Today’s little challenge: Put your phone away, slow down and truly taste your next meal. 💚

Do you usually eat slowly or finish your food very quickly? 😂👇🏽
