What causes a woman to bleed after s*x?
There are many reasons why a woman may bleed after s*x. The medical name for this is "postcoital bleeding".

If you're concerned because you experience va**nal bleeding after s*x, seek advice from a GP or a s*xual health clinic (genitourinary or GUM clinic). They will ask about your medical history and assess your symptoms. They can then advise you if any treatment is needed.

Causes of bleeding after s*x
Bleeding after s*x can be a sign of a health condition:

an infection, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), or a s*xually transmitted infection (STI), such as chlamydia
va**nal dryness (atrophic vaginitis) caused by reduced va**nal secretions after the menopause
damage to the va**na, such as tears caused by childbirth, or by dryness or friction during s*x
cervical or endometrial polyps (benign or non-cancerous growths in the womb or the lining of the cervix)
cervical ectropion (also known as cervical erosion), where there is an inflamed area on the surface of the cervix
In rare instances, bleeding after s*x can be a sign of cervical or va**nal cancer.

Tests and examinations
Depending on any other symptoms and your medical history, a GP may recommend some tests or examinations, such as:

a pregnancy test (depending on your age)
a pelvic examination (where the GP inserts 2 fingers into your va**na to feel for anything unusual)
looking at the cervix with an instrument called a speculum
If the problem is caused by va**nal dryness, they may recommend that you try using lubricating gels.

You may also be referred to a specialist, such as a gynaecologist or genitourinary specialist.

*Dysfunctional* uterine bleeding (DUB) is a condition that affects nearly every woman at some point in her life.

Also called abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), DUB is a condition that causes va**nal bleeding to occur outside of the regular menstrual cycle. Certain hormonal conditions and medications may also trigger DUB.

The main cause of dysfunctional uterine bleeding is an imbalance in the s*x hormones. Girls experiencing puberty and women entering menopause can have imbalanced hormone levels for months or even years. This causes sporadic bleeding, heavy bleeding, and spotting.

Spotting is bleeding that’s lighter than a normal menstrual period. It often appears brown, pink, or light red.

The hormonal imbalances that cause DUB can also result from certain medical conditions or be side effects of medications.
Medical conditions
Medical conditions that often cause dysfunctional uterine bleeding are:

a. Polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS). This is an endocrine disorder that causes a woman to produce an increased amount of s*x hormones. This may lead to an imbalance in estrogen and progesterone, making the menstrual cycle irregular.

b. *Endometriosis*. This condition results when the uterine lining grows outside of the uterus, such as on the ovaries. Endometriosis often causes heavy bleeding during regular periods.

C. Uterine polyps. These small growths occur within the uterus. Although their cause is unknown, polyp growth is heavily influenced by the hormone estrogen. Small blood vessels in the polyps can cause DUB, including spotting between periods.

d. Uterine fibroids. Uterine fibroids are small growths that occur within the uterus, uterine lining, or uterine muscle. Like polyps, the causes of uterine fibroids are unknown. But estrogen seems to play a role in their growth.

e. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). STDs that cause inflammation, like gonorrhea and chlamydia, may lead to DUB. Bleeding caused by STDs usually occurs after s*x, when the lesions are aggravated.
Medications
Certain medications can also cause dysfunctional uterine bleeding, including:

1. birth control pills
2. hormonal agents
3. Warfarin (Coumadin)

Okra seeds are very rich in toxic pigment called Gossypol which promote infertility in men by arresting s***m production (s***matogenesis) even at lower dose, researchers have revealed.

Okra, though very nutritious, can lead to infertility in men of reproductive age, Dr Ochuko Erikainure, a Senior Research Officer at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO), Oshodi, Lagos, has warned.

Mr. Erukainure, also a nutritionist and biochemist, gave the warning on Saturday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on in Lagos.

According to him, too much consumption of okra, especially its seeds can lead to infertility in men of reproductive age.

An online publication, www.medicalhealthguide.com says Okra, known in many English-speaking countries as lady’s fingers, is a flowering plant in the mallow family.

“Okra is an annual herb that is widely cultivated for its edible green seed pods in tropical, subtropical and warm temperate climates.

“Okra is a hardy plant that can grow even with less water and in hot conditions.’’

Mr. Erukainure said that okra has a unique substance called “GOSSYPOL”.

“Gossypol inhibits s***m production and motility by blocking several enzymes that are highly important in energy metabolism in s***m and s***m producing cells.
“Okra seeds are very rich in toxic pigment called Gossypol which promote infertility in men by arresting s***m production (s***matogenesis) even at lower dose.
“Gossypol are oil soluble and natural polyphenol secreted by plants as a defence against predators,’’ he said.
The senior researcher said that in some countries, okra seeds were, however, used for natural contraceptive for men.

“Due to proapoptotic activities in okra seeds (it means killing of cells), gossypol is still under investigation as a possible anticancer agent,” he said.
The nutritionist said that in spite of its effects in men, consumption of okra could be of health benefits to diabetes, obesity or overweight people.

“Okra is very high in dietary fibres, reduce calories intakes into the body, ability to limit nitric oxide build up in the blood and lipid (fat) and reduces the risks of cancers.
“Okra is an African vegetable that has been a staple of African and Indian cuisine for many years, and also used for medicinal purposes.
“The health benefits of okra can be attributed to its nutritional and phytochemical constituents making it a vital crop.
“One hundred grammes of okra has been reported to meet over 20 per cent of the daily values which the body needs.
“It contains a rare combination of carbohydrates, vegetables, minerals and vitamins.
“Not less than 10 different vitamins and minerals can be found in okra such as vitamin A, which is great for the skin, vitamin C and E which prevent cell damage in the body,’’ he said.
Mr. Erukainure said because “okra is high in fibre, it has positive impact on digestive system which assist with gastrointestinal difficulties.
“Including okra in our daily diet along with physical healthy exercise routine will prevent and treat diabetes, meaning that okra plant contributes to a more active lifestyle”.
Erukainure said that okra has been identified to have insulin-like activity in experimented animals.

“It is also a potent anti-diabetic source, which can be attributed to its chemical constituents,’’ he said.

THINGS THAT HAPPENS TO YOUR BODY WHEN YOU WAITED TOO LONG BEFORE YOU P*E!
As newborns, infants and toddlers, we eventually start to learn how to control our bladders. Our brain only knows that when we have to go, it’s time to go, and for many of us, we’ll need to go around 6 or 7 times a day.

After some training we learn to control when we go, and how long we’re able wait before we get to a bathroom. And sometimes we wait a little too long. There may not be facilities nearby, or we’re just too busy. But holding it in isn’t necessarily a bad thing, until it becomes a habit. That’s when problems begin to arise, some more severe than others.

Your bladder can only take so much

Your bladder is only capable of holding so much — roughly two cups of water (16 ounces) — comfortably. For kids it’s even less: only four ounces.

Think of your bladder as a muscle because, well, that’s exactly what it is. When your bladder is overworked, it can affect other things: for example, your pelvic floor. Your pelvic floor muscle is what controls whether or not you’re going to keep urine in, or let it out. (Imagine going back to your infant days!) So, you want your bladder to be in great shape.

Your brain won’t know it’s time to go
Believe it or not, the more you put off emptying your bladder, the more it stretches out. Dr. Chamandeep Bali, a naturopathic doctor at the Toronto Naturopathic Health Clinic told the Huffington Post that once the bladder stretches, your brain can lose its ability to know when you have to go.

You could actually p*e your pants!

Now that would be embarrassing, and in my opinion, could possibly be a worst-case scenario. OB/GYN, Lauren Streicher M.D. told Redbook, “As your bladder gets fuller and fuller, there’s a good chance you aren’t going to make it to the bathroom on time.” Yikes!

Many of us have been there: that “just barely made it” scenario, where the bathroom line may have been just slightly too long, after you sprinted to get there. It’s more likely to happen to young children and the elderly, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen to you if you push your bladder too far. (Cue the adult diapers!)

You could get a U.T.I.

About half of all women have had a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) at least once in their lives. These infections occur because bacteria has made its way into the urinary tract, which then causes symptoms like burning, the need to urinate frequently, and pelvic pain, among others.

But UTI’s aren’t actually a direct result of holding in your p*e. If you don’t empty your bladder enough, your body becomes a breeding ground for bacteria which can then cause a UTI.

Bacteria can create other problems

UTIs aren’t the only thing that can occur if bacteria makes itself at home in your urinary tract. Different adverse effects can include further infections, fever, pain, cramping, and more. It’s definitely a domino effect. Save yourself the hassle and just go!

Other organs can become damaged

Your bladder connects to your urinary system, which includes your kidneys. The kidneys create urine from the excess water in the blood stream, and by filtering waste. The Kidney and Urology Foundation says that if urine travels back up the tubes that connect your bladder to your kidneys, it can cause infections and kidney damage.

New York Urologist Alex Shteynshlyuger, M.D. also explained in an interview that in long term cases of holding in your p*e, elastic tissue can become damaged and eventually be replaced by scar tissue, which then can cause kidney damage down the road.

Your muscles could stay clenched

Not only will you cause yourself discomfort by holding in your urine, but the muscle doing all the work can end up staying clenched. Streicher explained, “I see a lot of people who come in with lower abdominal pain and think that something is seriously wrong, and one of the things I look for is does the person have normal bladder habits. And a lot of times, they don’t. Well, that causes pain that may stick around for awhile.”

Avoid alcohol and caffeine

Alcohol will cause you to use the bathroom more and so will coffee and caffeinated drinks because they are diuretics, meaning they can increase urine production. So if you’re worried about having to use the bathroom often — maybe you’re on a road trip, or you’re stuck in a meeting — don’t drink them.

Just go

The more holding it in becomes a habit, the more you’re going to see the problems it can create. It’s important to make sure you get to the toilet, not just because of the sheer embarrassment of a potential accident, but because of the fact that some of the health consequences can be very severe. Allow yourself ample time in your day to free your p*e, and you’ll be golden in more ways than one.

Mistaking margarine for a healthy fat
