BLOOD IN A NEWBORN'S DIAPER? Here's What Parents Need to Know!

05/06/2026

A NEWBORN BABY GIRL HAD A PERIOD?! 😳👶🩸

If you saw a little blood in your newborn daughter's diaper, what would be your first thought?

Most parents would panic.

Some might think the baby is injured.
Others might rush to the hospital fearing the worst.

But here's something many people don't know...

A small amount of vaginal bleeding can sometimes occur in newborn baby girls during the first few days of life.

This is called Neonatal Menstruation.

Before birth, a baby is exposed to hormones from her mother. After delivery, those hormone levels suddenly drop, and this hormonal change can occasionally cause a light vaginal bleed.

It is usually harmless.
It is often very light.
It typically occurs within the first week of life.
It usually stops on its own after a few days.

However, not all bleeding is normal.

Please seek medical attention if:
The bleeding is heavy.
It lasts longer than a few days.
There is a foul-smelling discharge.
Your baby appears sick or uncomfortable.

As strange as it sounds, neonatal menstruation is one of those fascinating newborn facts that often surprises even adults.

The human body is truly amazing—from the very first days of life.

👇 Before today, had you ever heard of neonatal menstruation, or is this your first time learning about it?

Men, don't ignore these signs....

04/06/2026

MEN, QUICK QUESTION...

When was the last time you went for a health checkup?

Many men will service their car on time, fix a faulty phone immediately, and work long hours to provide for their families—but ignore their own health.

"I'm fine" is probably the most common phrase many men say, even when their bodies are sending warning signs.

Here are some common health problems men often ignore:

1. High Blood Pressure
Often called the "silent killer" because it may have no symptoms until serious complications develop.

2. Diabetes
Excessive thirst, frequent urination, fatigue, or slow-healing wounds should never be ignored.

3. Mental Health Challenges
Stress, anxiety, and depression can affect anyone. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

4. Prostate Problems
Difficulty urinating, frequent urination, or changes in urine flow should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

5. Heart Disease
Chest discomfort, shortness of breath, and unusual fatigue deserve attention.

6. Obesity
Excess weight increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and other health conditions.

The truth is, many serious health conditions can be managed better when detected early.

Taking care of your health isn't just about you, it's about being there for your family, your dreams, and your future.

LADIES, REAL TALK...

When was the last time you scheduled a maintenance check for your body?

We spend money on skincare, hair, nails, and outfits. We plan birthdays, careers, and business goals. But when it comes to our health, many of us keep saying, "I'll do it later."

What if your body has been trying to tell you something?

Many health conditions don't show obvious symptoms in their early stages. That's why regular screening is one of the best gifts you can give yourself.

If you're a woman aged 20 and above, here are 5 important screenings you should know about:

1. Cervical Cancer Screening (Pap Smear & HPV Test)
This helps detect abnormal changes in the cervix before they become cancerous.
Recommended from age 21.

2. Breast Health Screening
Check your breasts regularly and report any unusual lump, discharge, or change to a healthcare provider.
Breast awareness starts now, not at 40.

3. Blood Pressure & Cholesterol Check
High blood pressure and high cholesterol often have no symptoms.
Know your numbers before they become a problem.

4. STI Screening
Many sexually transmitted infections can exist without symptoms.
Testing is about protecting your health, not about judgment.

5. Blood Sugar Test Regular screening can help detect diabetes or prediabetes early, allowing for timely lifestyle changes and treatment.

Feeling healthy doesn't always mean everything is okay. Prevention is always better than treatment.

Your future self will thank you for taking care of your health today.

👇 Tell me in the comments: Which of these screenings have you done before?

But I was told that garri causes blindness.. 👀🥣

I saw many comments saying this under my last post, so let's talk about it.

The truth is, this belief didn't just come from nowhere.

Cassava—the root used to make garri—naturally contains substances that can produce cyanide, a chemical that can be harmful in large amounts.

Don't panic 😅

This is why cassava is usually peeled, soaked, fermented, and properly processed before it is eaten.

These processing methods help remove harmful substances and make garri safe to consume.

However, in the past, people who consumed large amounts of poorly processed cassava products over many years, especially when their diets lacked important nutrients, were at greater risk of certain health problems, including damage to the nerves involved in vision.

This is one reason many people grew up hearing that "garri causes blindness."

But here's the important part 👇

Properly processed garri does not automatically cause blindness.

The original concern was about poorly processed cassava and poor nutrition, not garri itself.

Sometimes a health myth starts from a real concern, but as it gets passed from one generation to another, the full story is forgotten.

Now you know where the belief may have come from.

Did you hear this explanation growing up, or is this your first time learning about it?

Wait... you still believe drinking garri causes blindness? 👀🥣

02/06/2026

Drinking garri causes blindness. 👀🥣

How many times were you warned about this growing up? 😂

Maybe you were enjoying a big bowl of garri and someone suddenly said:

"Don't drink too much garri o, you'll go blind!"

But is it true?

Not exactly.

Garri itself does not cause blindness.

What can affect vision is a lack of important nutrients, especially Vitamin A, over a long period of time.

If someone's diet consists mainly of garri and they don't get enough fruits, vegetables, eggs, fish, or other nutritious foods, they may develop nutrient deficiencies that can affect their health, including their eyes.

So the problem isn't garri...

The problem is when garri becomes the only thing on the menu 😅

Garri can be part of a healthy diet, but your body needs variety to get the nutrients it needs.

Enjoy your garri if you like it, but don't forget to feed your body with other nutritious foods too.

Be honest... who else grew up hearing this myth? 🤣

FRUIT SPOTLIGHT: Banana & Apple

Most people eat these fruits regularly… but do you know what they're actually doing inside your body?

Bananas and apples are common fruits, but they're packed with nutrients that quietly support your health every day.

🍌 Banana: More Than Just Energy

Many people know bananas give energy…

But they also contain:
Potassium – helps support healthy muscles, nerves, and blood pressure

Vitamin B6 – helps the body use energy from food and supports brain function

Fiber – helps keep your digestive system moving smoothly

Magnesium – supports muscles, bones, and overall body function

That's why bananas are a favorite snack for athletes and busy people.

🍎 Apple: Small Fruit, Big Benefits

Apples contain:

Fiber (Pectin) – helps support digestion and gut health

Vitamin C – helps support the immune system

Antioxidants – help protect the body's cells from damage

Water – contributes to daily hydration

A lot of the fiber is found in the skin, so washing and eating the skin can help you get more benefits.

✨Good nutrition doesn't always come from expensive foods.
Sometimes the fruits sitting on your kitchen table are already providing nutrients your body needs.

Small healthy choices repeated daily can have a big impact over time.

Your body doesn't just need food—it needs nutrients. And sometimes, the simplest fruits provide more than we realize.

Which one do you eat more often: 🍌 Banana or 🍎 Apple?
