Did u know there are different types of Anesthesia? I often spend time with patients educating them on different types of Anesthesia or the approaches we are taking. So let's break it down simply
General anesthesia ❤️
* Induces a state of unconsciousness
* Used for major surgeries ( abdominal and thoracic surgery)
* Patients are completely unaware of the procedure
Regional anesthesia 🌎
* Blocks sensation in specific area of the body.
* Usually used for lower body surgeries e.g Epidurals during childbirth
* Patients can remain awake but pain free
Local anesthesia 💉
* Numbs a small area for minor procedure e.g dental work
* Patients are fully conscious and aware
Monitored anesthesia care ( M A C) 🌅
* A combination of local anesthesia and sedation
* Used for procedures that requires more than just local anesthesia but less than general anesthesia.
* patients are relaxed and comfortable, often able to respond
So if u are in training now or like to start, which method is ur favorite and why ?
