THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF KBSPHCDA ISSUES STRONG WARNING TO KALGO'S PRIMARY HEALTH WORKERS
In a proactive move to enhance the quality of healthcare service delivery in Kebbi State, the Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (KBSPHCDA) Strengthens Oversight with Unannounced Supervision Visits to Kalgo's Primary Healthcare Facilities
The initiative was led by the Executive Secretary of KBSPHCDA, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad, alongside the agency's directors and dedicated staff. The primary aim of this unexpected visit was to ensure that both personnel and equipment at the healthcare facilities were being utilized effectively and efficiently.
Supervisory assessments were conducted at MCH Kalgo, Gayi Primary Healthcare, and Diggi Healthcare facilities, all located in the Kalgo local government area.
During the visit to MCH Kalgo in Kalgo Town, several unethical activities were detected, ranging from staff reluctance in fulfilling their duties to deficiencies in records and documentation. Additionally, the agency observed unhygienic conditions and a lack of proper equipment usage.
In response to these findings, Executive Secretary Abubakar Muhammad expressed his disappointment and summoned the Local Government Health Director and his LGA team for further questioning. He emphasized that the administration led by Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu prioritizes health issues and has ensured the adequate provision of equipment and incentives. Moreover, he urged all staff to comply strictly with the established guidelines of their roles and responsibilities, warning that any misconduct in the future may result in severe sanctions.
Meanwhile, the overall outcome of the Gayi and Diggi Healthcare facilities was satisfactory, although both were also found to have issues with updating data tools and a lack of technical know-how in operating some machines. In response, the Executive Secretary directed immediate on-the-job training for frontline health workers.
During the visit, the supervising team also assessed the overall conditions of the facilities, reviewed operational protocols, and engaged with healthcare workers and patients to gather essential feedback on service delivery.
Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad highlighted the agency's commitment to maintaining high standards in healthcare service provision and stated, "We will not tolerate any inappropriate behavior next time." He reiterated that these supervisory visits are crucial for identifying areas that require improvement and ensuring that the healthcare services provided meet the needs of the community. He finally encouraged the facility to conduct a periodical facility management and WDC meeting with a proper meeting agenda, minutes of the meeting, and action points.
