5 THINGS I WISH SOMEONE TOLD ME BEFORE I STARTED A PEANUT BUSINESS 👀🥜
Peanut production looks simple from the outside... buy groundnuts, coat them, package and sell.
But there’s a lot that happens behind the scenes. Here are 5 lessons I’ve learned 👇🏽
1️⃣ You can sell a lot and still make little profit.
High sales don't automatically mean good profit. If your measurements, ingredient costs and wastage aren't properly controlled, your money can disappear without you noticing.
2️⃣ Your raw materials matter more than you think.
One bad batch of groundnuts can affect the taste of an entire production. And once customers notice a drop in quality, winning back their trust isn't easy.
3️⃣ Consistency will keep customers coming back.
Customers want to know that the peanut they enjoyed last month will taste just as good when they order again. Your taste, texture and overall quality have to remain consistent.
4️⃣ Small mistakes during production can become big losses.
From roasting to coating, drying, packaging and storage, every stage matters. A little carelessness at one point can affect the entire batch.
5️⃣ You don't need a huge factory to begin.
Start with what you have, but don't neglect structure. Cleanliness, proper measurements, good record-keeping and a consistent production process will take you further than simply having a beautiful workspace.
The peanut business can be profitable, but you have to treat it like a BUSINESS. 💯🥜
Which of these lessons do you think new peanut vendors overlook the most? 👀👇🏽
