A Pregnant Woman’s Comfort Should Never Take Away Her Dignity.
Last week, I saw a pregnant woman sitting in public in a position similar to number 3 in this picture. She looked dizzy, tired, and very sleepy.
I became concerned, not because pregnancy means you cannot sit comfortably, but because how we sit and dress in public still matters, even when we are pregnant.
I quietly asked one of our female workers to approach her and politely encourage her to adjust her position.
Dear pregnant woman, pregnancy can make you tired, sleepy, dizzy, and uncomfortable. Please listen to your body and sit down when you need to. But whenever possible, choose a comfortable position that also protects your privacy and dignity, especially in public.
There is no single Perfect sitting position during pregnancy. The important things are to sit comfortably, support your back when needed, avoid positions that make you feel faint or uncomfortable, and get up slowly if you have been sitting for a while.
And please remember that frequent or severe dizziness, fainting, difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe headache, bleeding, or other concerning symptoms during pregnancy should not simply be blamed on pregnancy, seek medical care.
Pregnancy is beautiful.
Comfort is important.
But dignity should remain beautiful too. ❤️
